At the moment, it can be a little bit tricky to find new things to do while staying safe at home. It has now been a couple of weeks since social distancing and self isolation measure came into force in the UK, which means that all the little job we wanted to get done, have now been done! And Dizzy has been getting slightly itchy feet (especially when she has been feeling in a Dizzy the Cultured Donkey mood)! But she took to the internet, and soon found lots of new things to do, which she had never even thought of before! For free! And she also thought that she would share them with you too. 🙂

Music

For music lovers and those who love to have a little dance around the house, there are many difficult radio stations available, and even ones especially for party goers out there! For example you can tune into “United We Stream” which comes directly from Berlin nightclubs.

And if like Dizzy and me, and you’re not really into clubby music, there are also lots of ways of accessing classical and other live music. Several concert halls are now collaborating to provide online events. Sage is one of the collaborators of the European Concert Hall network, which has over 25 concert halls. All of which are streaming events on social media! The Royal Opera house is also offering online broadcasts.

Theatre and Dance

Dizzy loves the theatre! Therefore, she was extra excited to find out that the The National Theatre is showing plays such as One Man, Two Guvnors, Jane Eyre and Treasure Island, streaming every Thursday evening! Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is also showing many plays and films on the Globe Player app.

If you love classical or modern dance, Sadlers Wells are offering a range of dance productions and even workshops.

And for the future, when things return to normal, you can still always look at tickets with London Theatre Tickets.Something to then look forward to in the future. 🙂

Art and History

There are lots of fun art activities you can get involved with online too! One example is a collaboratation by the MoMa gallery and the artist Louise Lawler. Louise creates line drawings of other famous pieces of artwork, which you can then color in and send to the gallery to be rated! Dizzy loves being  a little creative. 🙂

The British Museum, National Gallery and the Royal Academy are also offering virtual tours. You can download the City Arts app if you’re interested in more exhibitions of both art and sculpture. And even The Vatican is offering virtual tours!

What new things are you discovering which you can try out during this time? 🙂 xxx

  1. We also have an online art award where you can share a photo of anything you create, whether that be a painting, colour in or something you’ve baked, these artworks will then be featured in our online art gallery. https://all-hearts.org/2019/01/28/launch-of-the-allheart-award/ and on 27th May to celebrate National Day of Thanks, last year we launched Thankful Tuesdays and we are inviting people to share what they are thankful for every Tuesday. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2342432062667265&id=2203974156513057&__tn__=-R

  2. Oh wow, I had no idea the National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre are showing lots of free plays, that’s incredible. I really need to check out those museum virtual tours too, I’ve been meaning to but oddly haven’t found the time yet (I really don’t know why I’m still so busy! 😂). I hadn’t known about the Vatican opening their doors to a webcam, that should be interesting.

Fantastic suggestions. Stay safe & well, Heather xxxx

    1. I have found my days going so quick! And no idea how I seem to be so busy! I was super excited about the Phantom of the Opera being shown for free, but I somehow missed it! It was only available for 24 hours. 🙁 xxx

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
