Dizzy was very excited last week to be informed that it’s World Donkey Day today! (I didn’t even know there was a World Donkey Day…) so this post is all about donkeys! 🙂

I asked Dizzy what she would like this donkey post to be about and she said facts about donkeys! These are her top 10 🙂  :

  1. Donkeys are known for being stubborn. If they don’t want to do something they will dig in their heels and refuse to move.
  2. Donkey’s stubbornness is actually because they are very intelligent! They are independent thinkers and make up their own minds about situations.

This is what Dizzy tells me anyway when I say she’s being a stubborn donkey…

3. Donkeys love polos and gingernut biscuits.

4. Donkeys have excellent memories. They can recognise places and other donkeys up to 25 years later. (That’s better than mine!)

5. Donkeys can live for more than 40 years.

6. Donkeys can hear other donkeys up to 60 miles away!

7. Donkeys large ears help to keep them cool.

8. Donkeys are very loyal and make friends for life. Donkeys can even die from grief if their friend dies.

9. The most common coat colour for donkeys is grey (like Dizzy’s!).

10. There are over 50 million donkeys and mules in the world!

Dizzy would also like to say thank you to the MS Society . Firstly for telling us about today and for publishing one of our posts for World Donkey Day. 🙂

We hope you’ve learnt something about donkeys from our little post today. I didn’t know half of these when I started it! 🙂 Have you got any interesting facts about donkeys or any other animals? Me and Dizzy love would to hear them. 🙂 xxx

  1. HAPPY WORLD DONKEY DAY?!! I did not know this was a thing! I love donkeys!! 😍😊 Ahh the pictures are so lovely as always, I love the one of Dizzy with the biscuits and polos! 💕

    1. I didn’t either until last week! Otherwise I would have completely missed it and doubt Dizzy would have been very impressed if that had happened. Thank you, glad you love the photos! 🙂 xxx

  2. Watch out, Dizzy’s about! What is she reading? I tried to work it out but can’t lol! From your Super Duper Friend xxxx

    1. Happy belated Donkey Day Felicia! 🙂 Awww, that’s so lovely that your grandfather had donkeys. I love that Titus knew how to have things his way! 🙂
Thank you for the link. I’ll have to do a dinosaur post for it! How comes they get two though? That seems abit greedy. 🙂 xxx

  3. Thank you for this information on donkeys. I love them. They are working in many developing countries in the world and often not in the best conditions. In Africa the Brooke ( a charity that works for working horses, donkeys and mules in the developing world.) has started a program in schools to have donkey clubs to educate children about donkeys. Often the children in the families will be the ones who look after the donkeys . This program has been successful so far in improving the care for many working donkeys. Dizzy is a very talented donkey of course and lucky to have you as her owner!

    1. I do know the Brooke charity well, they do wonderful work for donkeys! 🙂 Education is so important for donkeys so I’m so glad they are doing donkey clubs. 🙂 I’m glad you like all the information. I feel I’ve learnt a lot about donkeys from doing it! xxx

  4. I think it’s great that there’s a World Donkey Day! Dizzy and all the other intelligent, funny, stubborn donkeys deserve a special day!

  5. Thanks! I loved learning some cool Dizzy facts! I can’t believe their memory!

  6. World donkey day?! Simply fantastic! I’m late to discovering your post (and blog), but I am glad that I have! We are new to owning a donkey of our very own, and recently learned from my husband’s OT (who trained and raised donkeys and horses-which makes him an even cooler OT) that they love peppermints! We tried it, and sure enough! Our beloved Jasper loves them! Thank you for the fun read! 😊

    1. I found it very exciting when I found out there was a World Donkey Day! 🙂 Aww, that’s just gorgeous that you have your own donkey. My dream is to one day own my own donkeys. I only found out about the peppermints because they have a bucket at the donkey sanctuary for any donations of polos for treats for the donkeys. 🙂 Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving your comment. 🙂 xxx

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
