This month me and Dizzy have been thinking about getting active with MS! First of we’re very lucky to be joined by Dr Julie Latchem-Hastings from Cardiff University. Julie is currently working on the study ‘LEAP-MS‘ – Lifestyle, Exercise and Activity Package for people with Multiple Sclerosis – which is a three year study funded by the Multiple Sclerosis Society. In this Dizzycast, Julie tells us all about the study and how she is being helped by a new member of the LEAP-MS team – Giddy. 🙂
We are then joined by Jen and Robert for this episode’s Dizzy Discussion, which is all about exercise! We’re chatting about how we have had to change the types of exercises that we do since having MS, and the best types of exercises we have since found for us. 🙂
You can also find out a bit more about us all by pottering over to Dizzy’s Dotty Team page, where you can find out all about Julie, Jen and Robert
We really hope you enjoy this months little episode, and please get in touch with any comments, questions or just to say hello. We love to hear from you. xxx

Used to do the Texas ten-step while I was in college…required coordination and a decent dance partner. Unfortunately, have lost all ability and am MANY miles away from college now. My husband does not dance and I do not walk! My best friend from high school does the Rumba for exercise with a group of people back in IL.
What’s the texas ten-step? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that before. I have just last week started going to a ballet class in the hopes of improving my balance and strength. It was no easy hour. I had forgotten how physically and mentally demanding it is! 🙂 xxx
I will have to return here tomorrow Heather and listen to the more of the podcast – we are having some severe weather moving in, so I’ going to get the computer shut down. As I said before, it’s nice to hear your voice … the voice behind the words. 🙂
I hope the severe weather doesn’t hang around for too long. It’s very settled here this week. x Hope you enjoy the podcast when you are able to listen to more of it. 🙂 xxx
It ended up being three tornadoes and not that far away – very scary Heather. I was hoping once we reached Fall it might be less unstable with this weather. Tomorrow I will listen to the podcast – my boss was getting ready to go out of town for a few days so had a few things going on today.
That’s loads! I would have found that really scary. Are you ok? x I hope you have some of our calmer weather there soon. I have been reading predictions of 4 months of snow for us this winter though, I’m definitely hoping that’s not right! xxx
I am okay Heather – thanks for asking, but it is very scary and seeing how these tornadoes that only lasted a few minutes ripped off roofs, uprooted trees and bent garage doors inward! I hope your unsettled weather is not like this. I have heard we will have an El Nino Winter so warmer and less snow – I am so hopeful as we had a bad Winter like you did for 2017-2018. I don’t like driving in snow so I am happy I work from home now. I took the bus for 30+ years, so it didn’t help me sharpen my driving skills any. Let’s hope we both have a mild Winter this year.
They are scary! Especially when there’s no way of knowing the damage they will do when they turn up. x I hate driving in the snow too, it makes me really nervous. There were a few times last winter when I just didn’t go out! Here’s hoping to a mild winter for both of us too. 🙂 xxx
The first few paragraphs explain the three tornadoes – I worried when they said it would hit here by 9:10 p.m. (Lost a year off my life, right there worrying about it.) https://www.clickondetroit.com/weather/national-weather-service-says-3-tornadoes-touched-down-in-metro-detroit-on-tuesday-night
That’s so scary. That poor lady’s back garden! And the barn that was completely flattened. 🙁 xxx
Scary to me too Heather and made me grateful that I was untouched and just whining about the rain – silly me!! I’m off to wak and it is very chilly out today … in the 40s! {{{ }}}
I do chair exercises.
Chair exercises are great. I even had a chair exercise dvd a couple of years ago but I can’t find it now! xxx
Yes they are. You can grade them to how you’re feeling and your level of fitness. they can be light or hard.
They sound great! Where do you find your chair exercises from? xxx
I made some of them up and learnt some of others at my work. 🙂
Maybe I can do a blog post on them. 🙂
You should do! That would be really useful for loads of people. 🙂 xxx
I will when I create my new website. Just having some issues because I live in Australia and WordPress and Bluehost don’t offer .au domain names so I have to purchase one and then pay a fee to use WordPress. I want to continue using WordPress since all my followers are on it.
They should do! Does it all look quite simple to sort out thought? x and that was the reason why I wanted to continue using wordpress, i love everyone on here. xxx
Will I lose all my comments if I keep my domain the same and just upgrade to a paid plan?
I kept all my comments. The only thing I lost was my post likes. xxx
Chair exercises sound good. I have countless Pilates dvds but it’s getting the energy to follow the instructions. Will power required. Now I have a big fly buzzing around me and driving me mad. That will be enough exercise trying to swat it😅
I have lots of yoga DVD’s which I really need to start using again more! It is a challenge finding the energy to get up and do them though. x I have found some you can do in bed, which are perfect. 🙂 xxx
Chair exercises are coming. I am just so stressed over this website business as I don’t have a domain name. 🙁
