It’s our 2 year blogiversary! And in celebration we have decided to do our very first giveaway. 🙂

And of course it has to be a knitted donkey! Meet Dotty the Donkey. 🙂

She’s very sweet and friendly, but like Dizzy, she does seem to be a slightly greedy donkey. Although, her food of choice seems to be chocolate… 🙂

The winner will also get one of Dizzy’s bags and a calendar. 🙂

To enter:

  1. You need to be following/subscribed to our blog.
  2. Be able to take very good care of a little donkey.
  3. Pop in a comment below stating why you need your own little donkey in your life! The more unusual and imaginative the better.

The last day to enter will be next Sunday (9th), and Dizzy will then be picking her favourite answer on Monday 10th.

Good luck! 🙂 xxx

    1. I can’t believe it’s been 2 years!
I would love Dot to come live with me she would fit in with all my life lessons and hi jinks! We believe the same things so she’d be right at home 🌹Cheers Diz

      1. I know. It’s mad how quickly the time goes! 🙂 Can’t believe I’ve been carrying Dizzy around for 2 whole years now. 🙂 And thank you for your lovely response. Dizzy has written you down on our list of replies. She’s in charge. 🙂 xxx

  1. Happy donkey- verdant! I really would love to win this mini donkey because it is my dream to own a mini donkey and have it live happily grazing and playing in my mini front yard. This knot one would be a great beginning!

    1. Thank you. 🙂 And that’s my dream aswell. To have two non-knitted donkeys running around (don’t tell Dizzy ! said that though!). 🙂 Dizzy’s popped you on her list of people who have responded. She’s put herself in charge. 🙂 xxx

  2. Wanted to say happy blogiversary. I’d be scared my dogs would make a friend of a donkey in not a pg way 🤪

    1. Thank you! 🙂 x And maybe best not for Dotty then. Lol. Although I am sure she would have loved it at your house, I’m not sure I would approve of those kind of activities for her. 🙂 xxx

  3. Congratulations on 2 years of blogging! I need a donkey in my life because … I care about donkeys and helping them, and I’ve planned a special Blogmas donkey sanctuary post that will be on my blog soon! I think all of you should have some chocolate to celebrate 2 years of blogging!

    1. Thank you, and for your wonderful response. x I’ve just started following your other blog and have seen it! Such a gorgeous post. 🙂 Have you ever had the chance to go there? I only thought you had your teaching blog. 🙂 I teach English too (some online) but mainly for primary and secondary students. xxx

  4. Huge congratulations on your blogiversary!! Mine is coming up later this month yet it feels like I’ve been blogging + reading your blog forever! Hmm I need a little donkey in my life because all of the cute little companions in my house have been stolen by my dogs (not to chew but to be safeguarded in their beds and snuggled up with 😂). I would take care of Dotty the Donkey and not let that fate become hers, she would instead take pride and place in my room, be treated like a queen and showered with treats! 😂❤️

    1. Lol, I know what you mean. It feels like it shouldn’t be two years already, but at the same time, it doesn’t feel like there was a time when I wasn’t blogging and taking Dizzy everywhere with me. 🙂 What date is your blogiversary on? Aww, your dogs sound so cute! But Dotty definitely prefers the treated like a queen option. It’s given Dizzy ideas too! 🙂 xxx

          1. I’ve decided to do 12 days of Xmas and am really excited about it now that I have the majority of the posts typed out (I thought I was going to have to give up at one point 😂)❤️xx

  5. Dotty is adorable. I could use a Dotty in my life. I work hard on the PC making a passive income and some days when i get real tired just can’t help it when special memories come flooding back and how great it would be to hold onto a donkey that understands and hold on tight until I feel I can go on again. I have a loving cat Sid but he is like all independent cats and comes and goes like he pleases and only when he demands love can I give it. Sometimes you just need something soft and cuddly to hold onto until the tears subside.

    1. Aww, thank you for your answer. We completely understand, and Dizzy does admit that donkeys are very good for being there to cuddle. 🙂 x We also love that your cat’s name is the same as my boyfriends. 🙂 I hope this week is going ok for you, and Dizzy has added you onto the list of answers. She’s taken charge of the giveaway. 🙂 xxx

  6. First, HAPPY HAPPY SECOND BLOGOVERSARY and we send you wishes for many, many more!!! I LOVE Dotty!!! She is PRECIOUS!! I think Dakota and Cody need her around to keep them in line, you know how boys can be!!!! I think Cody would enjoy cuddling her and I think Dakota might just try to herd a donkey!!! Too cute!!!!

    1. Thank you so much. Can’t believe it’s been two years already! x Lol, I’ve no doubt that Dotty could keep them in line. I’m not sure Dakota would get far with trying to herd her though, she’s rather stubborn about that sort of thing! 🙂 xxx

  7. Congratulations on 2 years of blogging….mmmh well the only thing I can think of why I would want and need a donkey in my life is one that loves chocolate….as I do…but its not good for me…so if I have a chocolate loving donkey in my life…then donkey eats the chocolate and I don’t lol…

    1. Thank you! And I would never have thought of that. 🙂 She had nibbled my chocolate before I had even known what was happening, so you definitely wouldn’t need to worry about any being left around. 🙂 Dizzy and Dotty have added you onto the list of answers. 🙂 x Hope you’re having a lovely week. xxx

  8. Happy blogiversary!
I need a chocolate loving donkey to go with my 2 chocolate loving unicorns. I think they’d love Dotty!

    1. Aww, your chocolate sounding unicorns sound amazing! And Dotty has never met a unicorn before! 🙂 Dizzy and Dotty have added you to their little list of answers. x We hope you’re having a wonderful week. 🙂 xxx

  9. Umm, so I can take her to healthcare and social services meetings and have her whisper in my ear that – while she might be a donkey – she at least isn’t an *ass* like most of the others around the table? (That contribution is a freebie, as I’m not sure how I could enter an actual giveaway given my blog is anonymous! Hopefully Dotty and her new owner will enjoy the chuckle as they face down clueless doctors, relatives who think they know how to “cure” incurable diseases, trauma triggers, bad days and all of the other assorted asses who could use a talking to about how to be sensitive to spoonies!)

    1. We love your response! It did make me and the donkeys chuckle. 🙂 x Dotty isn’t too worried about dealing with those type of issues, she’s a very stubborn, and takes no nonsense kind of donkey. 🙂 x Hope you’re having a lovely week. xxx

  10. Congrats, Heather! 2 years is a biggie.
Is it just me or does Dotty appear to be better groomed than Dizzy? Must be a gal-thing!
    🙂
Please do not put me in the giveaway. I think it’s a great idea and the ‘prizes’ are fantastic…However, I’m still trying to figure out how to (someday – obviously not related to the coming holidays!!!)) order without using paypal a few items in The Dizzy Shop. It’ll happen, just when?!?
ps- take care of your spoons during the holidays, hon.

    1. Dotty does. Don’t tell Dizzy I said this, but she is starting to show her age a little. Her coat and hat are not as neat as they use to be… Dizzy’s oblivious to this of course though. 🙂
Lol, I still don’t even know that much about buying through my shop. There should be a guest paypal option, I think Or if you would rather pay by another method (bank transfer or cheque) just let me know. 🙂
And you too! We are planning a super restful holiday time. Have you got anything planned? xxx

      1. This year is a mellow year! Whew!

BTW: I was wondering if Dotty’s name has a backstory like Dizzy’s? As in maybe, brain foggy = dotty (as I understand the British definition of that word)?

  11. Congratulations on your 2 years! You have a wonderful blog, that is entertaining and informative. Besides, I can’t resist following along on Dizzy’s adventures. 🙂

  12. Congratulations!! What a great milestone! I would love to have Dotty in my life because, with the new diagnosis of myasthenia gravis, I am going to be going through a lot of icky medical stuff and Dizzy knows how comforting a donkey can be for that kind of thing. Alas, I’m in the States and far, far away from Dotty but I know you’ll find her a perfect, donkey-loving home!

    1. Thank you Elizabeth! Can’t believe it’s two years already! And I hope all the tests go ok. I hate hospital tests, poor Dizzy has to come along to them all with me. I sometimes wonder if she’s the first knitted donkey to have had an MRI scan. 🙂 x And you are far, but we’ve added you to our little list of responses. 🙂 I would have to check with Dotty that she’s not scared of flying though if you did win. x I hope your week is going well. When do all the tests start? xxx

      1. Dizzy would be a great comfort during the tests. I start a full week of things next week. Physical therapy, neurologist, CT Scan, steroid shots in my hip, then cardiologist. But then Christmas!!

        1. That’s so much. I hope it all helps though, and we’ll be thinking of your next week. x But at least Christmas is near! Will there be any further tests after christmas or will next week answer their questions? xxx

          1. Next week I have most of the tests. There’s one (swallow study) scheduled for the 17th and, as far as they told me, that’s it. But they didn’t tell me about that one until today. LOL Who knows? But I know I’ll be home with the family for Christmas and that’s all that matters!

          2. What’s a swallow study? And that’s true, and knowing that helps. I’ll be hoping that will be it for all the tests at the moment though. Sending hugs. xxx

          3. I have to drink some barium thing and they watch it go down. I’ve been choking fairly often lately and they think it’s the myasthenia gravis but want to make sure there’s nothing else going on.
Next week with the doctor visits and tests should be the end of it for a while! I certainly hope so anyway!
            Kiss Dizzy for me!

          4. I hope they all go well, and let us know how you get on. We’ll be thinking of you next week. xx Sending lots of big Dizzy hugs and kisses. xxx

  13. Happy 2 year anniversary!!

I would love to win Dotty the donkey for my mum who has MS. Not only is she a super mum (as I’m sick and in and out of hospital) but she also volunteers as a Samaritan, worked with children her whole life & is the kindest person ever.

She has always loved Donkeys & I showed her your insta account and she fell in love with it!! Lots of love xxx

    1. Thank you Zoe! x Your mum sounds absolutely amazing! Especially as she also loves donkeys. How long has she had MS for? xx I hope both of you are having a good week, and Dizzy has added you to her list of responses. She’s taken charge of the giveaway. 🙂 xxx

  14. Happy two-year blogging anniversary to you and Dizzy … congratulations. I’d say if Dotty loves chocolate as much as Dizzy loves ginger biscuits, she will be a very sweet little donkey. I think Dotty and Dizzy are going to give us many posts of entertainment and smiles. You do not have to enter me in the giveaway Heather … I am happy to make a comment about this cutie pie. 🙂 {{{{{ }}}}} to you, Dizzy and Dotty

    1. Dotty is very sweet, but she will need a home that doesn’t mind providing an unlimited supply of chocolates… it can be hard work keeping these hungry donkeys happy. 🙂 xxx

      1. I believe it Heather – and if she gets any chocolate on herself, it will blend in as she is chocolate colored … she just has to be careful around her muzzle and ankles though. 🙂 {{{{ }}}}

  15. Happy Bloggerversary Heather and Dizzy! I have enjoyed reading your adventures.
I would love a Dotty in my life. That would mean that you and I would be connected even though I live on the other side of the world which would be a very special connection and Dotty would be able to experiecne life in Australia. Dotty would come to bed with me and when I am having a bad day she would comfort me and I would treat her to lots of cuddles and ginger nut bikkies of course.

    1. Australia sounds very exciting for a donkey! At the moment she’s just sitting watching the world go by. 🙂 Dizzy has popped you down on our list of responses, she’s taken charge of the whole giveaway! 🙂 x How have you been? xxx

      1. I love donkeys and horses. they are beautiful animals. I have some posts ready on my new website and will be posting photos of my Christmas craft in the next few days but I don’t think you’re following me yet on there so you wouldn’t receive emails about new posts. Also will be starting up a new blogger art award next year which I’ll need you and Dizzy’s your help with. I haven’t been very well hence missing in action and have had some mean, cruel comments on my blog.

        1. That’s reminded me! Can you please re send me the invitation to follow your new blog? I got the last one when I didn’t have wifi and it was all playing up, and then I forgot to go back to it! A blogger art award sounds amazing though! We’d love to help. 🙂 x I’m so sorry you’ve had some mean comments on your blog. I never understand why people do it. 🙁 You and your blog are great! Sending hugs. xxx

          1. Just re-sent my invite now. You’ll have a lot to catch up on but I am still adding photos to my last two blog posts. And thank you for that lovely comment. I love reading what you and Dizzy get up to.

  16. Congratulations and well done, keep it going. My website, aid4disabled.com, is my therapy and way of dealing with MS. Its got to the stage where it is about to take over my live.

No room for a donkey We run a dog boarding business in our home. They live in the house and one day Dotty will venture into the wrong room

    1. Awww, a dog boarding business sounds amazing! I love dogs. Lol, and I think that’s wise thinking. Dizzy and I would not be impressed to hear that Dotty’s been nibbled or sat on by lots of doggies. 🙂 My last little doggy liked to nibble donkey’s tails off, so Dizzy had to be kept safely up. xxx

  17. Happy Blogiversary Heather & Dizzy! Your blog helps so many people, including myself. I love seeing what you and Dizzy share and you have both helped me so much! Since following your blog I keep saying that I need a precious donkey like Dizzy to help me keep calm during difficult times and come with me to doctor’s appointments! I promise I can take excellent care of a donkey and show her LOTS of love!!!!
I hope y’all have a great week and Dizzy has plenty of ginger cookies and Dotty has plenty of yummy chocolate!!

    1. Thank you so much Alyssa! Still can’t believe it’s been two years already. Donkeys are very useful for doctors appointments, Dizzy gets to come to all of mine! 🙂 Dizzy has added you to our little list of responses, she’s taken full charge of the giveaway. 🙂 x I hope you are having a lovely week. 🙂 xxx

      1. You are more than welcome sweetie! Time flies when you are having fun, I guess! I am sure Dizzy makes the appointments easier to deal with. Please tell Dizzy I said thank you for adding me to the list of responses. I am sure she is having a blast with being able to take charge to the giveaway! I hope y’all are having a nice week and feeling great!!! xxx

  18. Happy anniversary Heather and Dizzy. How time flies. I always look forward to your posts. I would love to give Dotty a good home. She would be an only child, and benefit from lots of hugs, and of course LOTS of chocolate. xx

    1. Thank you Brigid! 🙂 It has gone so fast, and still can’t believe it’s been two years already! Hugs and chocolates sound wonderful. That sounds like my perfect home too! 🙂 x Dizzy has added your name to her little list. She’s taken charge of the giveaway. Don’t even think little Dotty is getting much of a look in… 🙂 xxx

  19. Congratulations on your anniversary! I already take care of a dorky cat named Dash, so adding a stuffed donkey to my menagerie would be fun for Dash. He’d have someone to compete against for my attention!

    1. Hehe, I’m imagining Dotty with a little Scottish accent now! 🙂 Dizzy’s added you to our list of responses, she’s put herself in charge of the whole giveaway. 🙂 x Hope you’re having a lovely week. 🙂 xxx

    1. Thank you so much, and for subscribing! We do all love dogs here, including Dotty! Even though my last doggy did like to nibble donkey tails off, so Dizzy always had to be kept up high. 🙂 x Dizzy has added you to her little list of responses, as she’s taken control of the giveaway. 🙂 x Thank you again, and we hope you’re having a lovely week. 🙂 xxx

        1. It’s getting very wet here and starting to get much colder. I hope you’re able to stay in and keep warm. 🙂 I’m not doing too badly, quite sleepy at the moment, but otherwise doing ok. 🙂 xxx

          1. Isn’t it always wet there, lol? Or does it get wetter in the winter? We just had 8 inches of snow last night and it’s still snowing. ❄⛄❄ I won’t be going anywhere for a long time! That’s good, besides being sleepy. I just woke up and I’m sleepy! xoxo

          2. Lol, it is always wet here, but usually slightly more wet in the winter. 🙂 No snow yet, I’m hoping it stays that way. And that’s me everyday. I wake up after a good nights sleep and feel even more tired than when I went to bed. 🙂 I hope you have a lovely week. 🙂 xxx

          3. LOL! I’ve visited England a few times and it was always wet but never have been during winter…always spring or summer. I’m not a huge fan of snow although it’s beautiful to look at. I can’t drive in it for one lol. And then it’s just so cold! I used to enjoy playing in it with my kids when they were smaller but ever since I was diagnosed with fibro, I can’t handle the cold! And I was recently diagnosed with Raynaud’s Syndrome where your hands and feet will turn white and blue when they get cold, so freezing temps are murder on my hands especially. It is awful just looking for something in the freezer. Does it snow very much where you are? I’m tired most days too but not as badly as I used to be…I think tired is just the curse of chronic diseases. I hope you do too! xoxo ♥

      1. You’re welcome, Heather! I’m doing ok…freezing now that it’s gotten cold and expecting lots of snow the next few days! But that’s okay. I’ll stay inside since the cold makes my body hurt! I hope you’re okay?? Are you ready for the holidays? xoxo ♥

          1. I’m done shopping except for one or two things. I always start in October and am usually finished by Thanksgiving. It’s the wrapping I wait till the last minute and then am scrambling to get it done on Christmas Eve and am a wreck lol. 🎅❤🎅

  20. Happy Blogiversary! Two years, already..? Where’s the time gone?! You should be so proud for having achieved so much with your blog, for the ways you support, inspire and share with others, even though you have your own struggles to deal with. You are a beautiful soul. I hope you & Dizzy take time to pat yourselves on the back and see how much you’ve accomplished and continue to contribute to the chronic illness community. I’m very glad I ‘met’ you in the blogging world.

And such a generous, sweet giveaway. Dotty and I have something in common with our love (obsession) for chocolate! I need Dotty in my life to keep me company while I eat it, be a shoulder to cry on when I’m feeling overwhelmed, and to watch funny Youtube videos with me =]

I also saw this and thought of you, it’s so sweet. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (who recently was in The Walking Dead as Negan) adopted a donkey and an emu. They were both rescued from an abandoned farm and they seemed to form a really close bond, so Jeffrey wanted to give them both and home and not separate them. How lovely is that?! It’s here – https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/dec/06/jack-diane-donkey-emu-in-love-jeffrey-dean-morgan-adopted
     ♥
    Caz xx

    1. Thank you Caz! Can’t believe it’s been two years already! And thank you for your lovely words, they really do mean alot to us. We’re so glad we met you here too! 🙂 xx
And the only problem would be, that with Dotty, you might not actually get any chocolate yourself. Last weekend I had only turned around for a moment and it was gone! Lol. Dizzy’s added you to her little list of people who have replied, she’s taken full charge of it. 🙂 Even Dotty’s not getting a look in….
And we loved that story. They make such a funny looking pair, so adorable! 🙂 xxx

  21. Thank you! I didn’t know that about your work – we should exchange ideas some time about teaching, though I only work with adults. Thanks re my other blog – having two gets a bit confusing sometimes because people see my teaching one first, but they have very different content and I hope you’ll enjoy Blogmas on the other blog. I don’t have any more donkey posts for the moment, but there are a couple more animal ones to come in December! XXX

    1. That would be great! I do work with adults too. 🙂 x And I find anyone amazing who can keep up two blogs. But I can see why it’s necessary in your case, as they are both very different, But both great! And I shall be looking out for your different blogmas posts. 🙂 xxx

  22. Dotty deserves a family who will love her and treat her right. I would love to bring her home. Not only will she get a stable at my writing desk but she will be welcome to stay in 2 princess castles (graciously hosted by my daughters) and covered in the magic of my son’s baby drool. (His drool is all he has to offer ATM) She’s too small for my husband to ride but I imagine he will be caught petting her as well. haha

    1. Lol, princess castles do sound rather amazing. I think Dotty could quite happily be Princess Dotty! 🙂 And magic drool. 🙂 Hehe. x Dizzy will be deciding the winner on Monday, she’s taken over the whole giveaway. x Hope you’re having a lovely weekend. 🙂 xxx

  23. Happy happy Blogaversary to you and Dizzy! So exciting! I love your creativity and all the ways you help us deal with the hand we’ve been dealt. Thank you.

I would love to adopt Dotty! I have a very important job for her: Miniature Service Donkey. She will be such a good little friend to have and will be a treasured member of our family.

Have you seen Miniature Service Horses and Miniature Therapy Horses? They aren’t very common. But Mini Service Donkeys are extremely rare!

As a Service Donkey, Dotty will be my mini-companion, assisting me in doing everyday things that are a bit more challenging now that I’m less mobile.

Most importantly, Dotty will provide great comfort to me when I have to undergo medical tests and procedures. Unfortunately, I have RA and spine disease in addition to MS and so I spend a lot of time getting poked and prodded. (Please reassure Dotty that no poking or prodding will happen to her!)

Dotty can assist me when I have to go brain-first into that great white whirring machine called the MRI or onto the flueroscopy table to get a cortisol shot into my spine (youch!!) or even for a mundane and boring infusion. Dotty can help distract me, keep me awake and motionless as is sometimes required and maybe even sing me a few tiny songs (in native Donkey, of course.) Does she sing?

Being a miniature donkey makes Dotty uniquely qualified to be a Miniature Service Donkey because there can be NO METAL in these MRI and spinal shot rooms. (Hopefully Dotty comes METAL-less!)

Oh, please let her know that there is a miniature knitted dog here to play with, as well as a real dog who is very nice and whose name is Coco. I am so hoping I am chosen go be Dotty’s forever home.

    Congrats again on your milestone!

  24. Congratulations on your blogiversary ! Well done! You are such a help for those of us learning about and trying to deal with the hand we’ve been dealt. And I love your creativity!

I need Dotty…well obviously quite a lot seeing as my first comment (which took some time to compose) promptly sailed away into the Ethernet when I pressed “Post Comment” ….helloooooo ???

    Attempt no. 2

I would like to adopt Dotty for two very important jobs: Miniature Service Donkey and Inspirer-in-Residence. More than anything, she will be a well loved member of the family, whose playmates will include a Miniature Knitted Dog, as well as a real dog.

As a Mini Service Donkey, she will help me do various things I need a bit more help with now that I’m not as mobile. Most importantly, she will go with me to various medical appointments, tests and procedures. And whoa Nelly, I have lots of these. You see, in addition to MS, I have RA and spine disease plus an array of other complicating health factors.

I’ll be so grateful to have Dotty’s little knitted donkey self with me for MRIs and the spinal shots I sometimes need which are done with guided flueroscopy. Both of these ban any metal from the room. So you see, a Miniature Service Donkey is the perfect service animal for me!!

Secondly: Inspiration a la Donkey! Fingers-crossed Dotty might also help me actually write and post something on the site I’ve been paying a hosting fee to for about the last two years. Blame cog fog, executive function lapses…And the time, energy and effort it takes to keep this chronic illness empire of one afloat! I do really enjoy writing and I’m hoping Dotty might someday take me to those “dizzying” heights of fame and fortune your mini donkey has gone to with you.

Thank you for considering my adoption request and congrats again!!

    1. We did get both of your comments! For some reason, last month, my blog decided I had to accept every comment, even with people who have commented before. It has a mind of it’s own! Either that, or Dizzy’s been up to some tricks. 🙂
And I can see Dotty would be kept very busy with you! 🙂 Dizzy gets to come to all my appointments too, and she’s fine in the MRI scanner, although she did get abit bored last time… 🙂
Dizzy will be deciding the winner tomorrow (she’s taken charge of the giveaway, not even Dotty is getting a look in!). Thank you so much for applying and we hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. 🙂 We’ve also started following your blog. 🙂 xxx

      1. Sorry for the duplication. It was a bit confusing, but now I’ll try to remember when I press Post Comment and it disappears, it’s simply going through the approval process. 😊

I hope Dizzy doesn’t get so bored in the MRI machine that she falls asleep. I’ve actually done that several times, despite the noise. And the techs aren’t too happy as they have to start the segment again because sleeping for me = snoring which means there is movement, which means the picture is not clear. Oops.

Thank you for following my so-far blank blog. I’m hoping to change that soon and give you something worthwhile to read.

Love reading about you and Dizzy…and now Dotty too. Xx

        Lee

        .

        1. I’m a little jealous that you manage to fall asleep in there. 🙂 Although, they have had to do the scans a couple of times again because I’ve started getting fidgety. I wasn’t even meaning to move…
And we are very excited about seeing your first post when it is up. 🙂 xxx

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
