Dizzy is having to be a little more careful with her pennies now that she is a home-owning donkey! Suddenly she is not just having to work out how many ginger nut biscuits she can buy each week, but also how much she needs to put by for housey stuff, mortgage and to think about how to save money on all of your bills.

She has also realised that she doesn’t have as much to spend on other things! Such as donkey outings! But after a little research, she has realised that there are still lots of things that she can do when she is feeling a little adventurous. 🙂

  1. Parks and Gardens! Dizzy loves a little potter to local parks and gardens. We like to take a little picnic and enjoy pottering around to look at the different trees and flowers. There is also one near us that has deer!

2. Sea-side! Dizzy is not a swimming donkey, but she still loves to feel the sea breeze between her ears. 🙂 She even shared (she really dropped it) one of her ginger nut biscuits with a seagull last time we went. 🙂

3. Be creative! Dizzy is often caught doing her painting and photography. 🙂 But for you it might be writing a book, or making donkey Christmas cards! Being creative can be super rewarding, and also really fun.

4. Watch your favourite TV shows! Having cosy nights in with a good donkey film on, is the best way to spend any evening. 🙂 Even if there is a programme not available over here yet, Troypoint.com suggests the following VPNs for Kodi, which means you no longer have to wait!

5. Create Your Own Events! Build donkey forts, or go on a magical adventure in the garden, where only a donkey can save the day!

6. Board Games and Puzzles! Dizzy and I really enjoy a puzzle (Dizzy also loves her maths ones too; she is a very clever donkey!). And it is also relaxing to do when tucked up on the sofa.

What are your favourite past times? And are there any that you think Dizzy should give a little try? 🙂 xxx

  1. Sounds like Dizzy knows how to have fun and not spend money. Where Dotty and I live we can choose to walk to the beach or go the other way and come to the Halifax River and commune with the ducks. Wishing you both a great weekend ahead.

  2. I love board games inc Ludo, Scrabble, Jenga, Monopoly and Snakes n Ladders to name a few. 95% of the 20 board games I own came from my local charity shop. Most expensive find was an electronic Tetris game which was only £3! When my energy levels are low and/or vertigo and dizziness playing havoc my 7 year old and I can still share have fun together 🙂

    1. I love board games! I ordered some the other week, and I have have scrabble and monopoly, which my boyfriend and I have been playing every day since! 🙂 I just wish I was a little better at them. 🙂 xxx

  3. I enjoy hunting for second-hand books, planning outings to free events/exhibits and also walking in the forest/park as well as down by the sea. Congratulations, Dizzy, on acquiring your new home!

          1. We loved London and enjoyed our first English afternoon exploring Hever Castle…I’ll be posting my London piece soon. I just finished reading Holly Black’s dark fairy series…

          2. Aww, you’ll have to let Dizzy know if you come back. We live about 15 minutes away from Hever Castle! Dizzy has not yet been there though. 🙂 I will look forward to seeing your pictures too. 🙂 How was the ending of the series? xxx

          3. Hever Castle’s Christmas theme was the Mad Hatter, I think Dizzy would’ve loved to have had a tea and a ginger nut cookie there!
It’s always sad when a series ends, I think the author could’ve written a fifth book…

  4. When my kids were young we used to love playing board games. We also made a couple of 3D puzzles as well as the more traditional flat puzzles.I think Dizzy is being very sensible to adapt a budget conscious attitude to entertainment.

    1. I love puzzles! But I never managed to get the hang of the 3d ones. For some reason, my brain could just not figure out how to put them together! And Dizzy and I have just bought scrabble and monopoly, which we are loving playing every night. 🙂 xxx

  5. I love Dizzy’s list and most of them are favourites of mine too. How about baking days then having friends for afternoon tea? You can make lots of scones for very little, and sharing is caring. Dizzy will likely get invites to other yummy teas.

  6. Aww I love the sound of seeing deer when popping to the park. Reading about Dizzy’s picnics and adventures in the parks and gardens makes me want the spring and summer to hurry up and get here! I like puzzles too, but crosswords not numbers. Just the look of those equations make me queasy 😂

Great suggestions, a little fun is so important to factor in to our schedules every now and then, perhaps more regularly than many of us do. xx

      1. I saw that, on Twitter I think – very, very cool!
This weekend is supposed to be awful again with gale force winds and lots of rain. I feel for those in areas that get badly flooded. Stay dry and warm and hopefully next week will be a little brighter! xx

  7. Dizzy is “adulting” … we like the new Dizzy as well as the old Dizzy. 🙂 I am not a swimmer either and I love the seagulls, even though they sometimes bully the smaller birds if you take any treats for the ducks … they are a pushy lot, but I love taking pictures of them. Next time I am at the boardwalk at the River, I lwill take some ginger biscuits and think of you Dizzy.

    1. The seagulls can be a little overpowering! But I still love them. 🙂 I can just never get over how quick they are! x Did you take some ginger biscuits to the boardwalk? 🙂 xxx

      1. I think that you can go to the boardwalk and see one or two seagulls until you take out treats, then all of a sudden they are coming out of the woodwork and are buzzing around! I have taken bread sometimes but I usually buy some oyster crackers and toss them out – they are great because they are light and airy and they float so that is perfect for the seagulls as they swoop down and get them “to go”. 🙂

          1. Yes and I thought it was extra cute that he held it with the red sugar side toward me … it would not have been as cute had it been the back which was just white … I think he loves being a little ham and hamming it up when I’ve got the camera. 🙂

      1. I am glad she is enjoying a packet of her favorites! I am doing okay, just struggling a little with not having a job. It was at no fault of my own and I was dealing with health issues. I might have been a little stressed! I hope you are doing well! xxx

          1. Thank you so much! I am trying to look out for my health, but still a complete stress case. Here in the states there isn’t much help out there for health issues.

  8. Great post! Have you thought about trying coffee mornings (cheap and a great way to make friends) and any walking/board game/puzzle/photography groups near you?

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
