Dizzycast this month is all about diet! Which me and Dizzy know doesn’t exactly sound the most exciting topic ever… 🙂 Dizzy just keeps saying her diet is the Ginger Nut Biscuit Diet… which unfortunately we’re not discussing in this episode. 🙂 We’re focusing instead on three diets that are designed for people with MS.
Firstly, we’re joined by Robin to talk about the Wahls Protocol, explaining what this is and the results that she is seeing from it. Then Jen, Robert and I discuss the OMS programme and the Swank diet, and our experiences with these. 🙂
Don’t forget to have a little potter over to Dizzy’s Dotty Team page, where you can find out more about Robin, Jen and Robert 🙂
We really hope you enjoy this months episode, and please get in touch with any comments, questions or just to say hello. 🙂 xxx

Paleo is something I hear a lot of but haven’t tried myself before, so it’s interesting to hear more about that and other dietary options (Omega 3 is something I should probably start taking in supplement form as I can’t face eating anything from the sea!) Great Dizzycast guys, love it! 🙂
For Omega 3 you can eat flaxseed instead. 🙂 It comes in oil or seed form. The oil made me feel abit sick though so now I buy it milled and eat it with yogurt. You can also make bars and things with it. 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to listen again Caz. 🙂 xxx
That photo is beautiful. Dizzy would make a very lovely model!
Hehe, I shall tell Dizzy, I think she will definitely agree with you. 🙂 Hope you’re having a lovely week. 🙂 xxx
You too! 😁
Looking forward to giving it a listen- and to hearing your BRILLIANT ACCENT!
Thanks Meg! 🙂 Hope you enjoy having a little listen to the podcast. 🙂 xxx
This was an amazing listen. So insightful and balanced. I have been doing the paleo diet for over 3 years and although I have lost focus from time to time it has been a real game changer for me. I think it’s also important to realise that there is no one size fits all so which ever diet you choose I think it’s vital to keep tweaking it to find what works best for you. Also – it sounds like dizzy is growing quite fond of Snap! He sounds great 😊
Thanks Sid! 🙂 That’s great to hear about your experiences with the Paleo diet. Maybe you’ll have to come on and talk to Dizzy about it in the future…. 🙂 xxxx Snap snap snap snap snap.
I could do! Will Dizzy and Snap be there? I really like sound of this Snap Donkey. He sounds wonderful xxxx
He has his moments…. Lol. 🙂 xxx
Thank you Robin for publishing it on your blog. 🙂 xxx
Hi Heather,
That was awesome, excellent interview! Thank you so much for including my take on the Wahls Protocol. I published it on my blog: https://defeatingms.blog/2018/03/13/a-discussion-about-three-major-autoimmune-diets/
Love your indiscriminate, open mind, after all, we’re all on similar paths to wellness.
Blessings!
Robin
Hi Robin,
I’m so glad you liked it. Your interview was perfect. And it was so lovely hearing about how positive your experiences with the Wahls protocol have been. 🙂
Couldn’t have done the episode without you. 🙂
Heather, xx
Not much of a pod cast watcher. Prefer typed texts. Have investigated all the diets you mentioned in my life with MS. Except the Wahls one. Never heard of it before. Will look into it. The swank and the rest of them just do not fit with my lifestyle.
I think that’s really important thing to remember about these diets. We’re all individual, so is our MS, and there will never be a diet that suits everyone and their lifestyle. For me OMS/Swank was pretty close to my diet already so it was easy for me to do. Wahl’s is definitely worth checking out. 🙂 xxx
Checked out The Wahls diet. I do not follow any diet. I drink a meal replacement shake for breakfast (good for lactose sensitive people), eat half of a peanut butter sandwich, an apple, and banana for lunch. Have a 1 PM snack break while reading a book meaning I eat two pure dark chocolate Hersey’s kisses. Take a but load of supplements and minerals during the day. We eat salmon (with Turmeric on it)at least once a week (more if I can convince my husband.
That is about as close as I get to a diet.
That still sounds a pretty good meal plan! 🙂 I have never tried salmon and turmeric, will have to give that a try. 🙂 xxx
Thank you all for a very interesting podcast. I think I am following a similar diet to OMS which seems best for my fibromyalgia. Hugs to Heather and Dizzy. xx
My diet was quite similar to it before getting MS too. Just the cheese was the big difference. 🙂 Thank you for listening Brigid. 🙂 Sending Dizzy donkey hugs. 🙂 xxx
What a great podcast. I liked hearing real people talk about food. And agree 1000 percent, medical establishment doesn’t promote it as there is no money in it. When I was first diagnosedI was told “Just eat healthy” which I pretty much already did. I did consult a nutritionist and she suggested Swank without mentioning Swank. I thought it was a bit extreme and far out as did my neuro. I regret not having done the proper research. Now, where I am treated is finally acknolwedging food.
For another diet, check out Ivy Larsen – cleancuisine.com. Interesting and more flexible.
I am trying to cobble together what may work for me
Aww, thank you for listening.
That’s great that you are now somewhere that acknowledges food. I just wish there was a way of treating people as a whole and looking at all aspects, not just this is what you have and this is the medication we can offer. I think so many other things can also impact it.
I will definitely check out Ivy Larsen. I’ve never come across her before. Thank you. 🙂 And you will find what works for you. 🙂 It can just take a little while. I still sometimes wonder if there’s other things I should be eating/not eating… xxx
Very interesting 🌹
Thank you Elaine. 🙂 xxx
