I’ve decided 2017 is already way too stressful for me and Dizzy. We’re back at the hospital on Wednesday for tests. One of those visits to find out your synptoms could be nothing or something really serious.
The waiting is making me go a bit nutty with stress so I thought I would make a little post on my ways of helping combat anxiety. It helps me remember to do them and hopefully will be useful to other people too!
- Talking to someone. For me I always jump to the worst case scenario and then spend hours thinking about this worse case scenario until I’m completely convinced this is definitely what is going to happen and I may as well give up on life now. But as soon as I talk to someone and they remind me there are other options things seem abit better. 🙂
- Yoga! I do find yoga amazing. Meditation can sometimes be good but if I’m really stress I find it just gives my mind extra time to worry. Yoga with Adriene is my favourite as I never feel rubbish if I can’t do any of the positions and some of them I find so relaxing I’m nearly asleep by the end!
- Yummy Food!
- Rubbish telly. This one comes with yummy food. Day time telly or silly films where the worst thing that happens is someone being late for work because they’ve got stuck behind a hang of ducks. This has to be done properly though with snuggly blanket/duvet and yummy food. 🙂
- Cuddles! Because I do love cuddles.
And if all else fails just head back to bed. 🙂
Let me know what your stress reducing methods are so I can give them a go. 🙂
Music! I have playlists as short and 20 minutes, and as long as eleven and a half hours – just depends on my stress level!
I don’t have any one style of music. It’s all a mishmash of my favorite songs from R & B to pop to classical! I put on my earphones and let the world go! 😉
Thank you Felicia. Music is a great one! I always find listening to music (and sometimes having a little dance around) help. I’ll be doing that tomorrow! 🙂 xx
I’m with you in the yoga – Adriene doesn’t make you feel like a failure if you can’t manage the poses. I agree with all that you’ve written and I also find that a good clear out/tidy really helps. Sad I know but tidy house tidy mind and all that! I hope that everything goes well on Wednesday x
It’s so true. Even if I really can’t do something I always feel like Adriene wouldn’t judge me. Tidying is a good one I had forgotten. It’s something I admit I don’t do very often but really does help! 🙂 And thank you. xx
I pray. I give it to God and he’s always there, day or night, rain or shine <3 I'll send you some Angel's, there are many waiting for a job, or looking after someone. Blessings <3 Angels are on their way !!! <3
Thank you Scarlett. That’s very kind of you. xx
Knitting is my stress reliever. The more I focus on a new or complicated pattern, the less I think about worrisome things. 🙂
Knitting is something I’ve always wanted to do but never got the hang of it. Maybe I should give it another go. xx
Chech out YouTube videos, there are many good beginner ones. ❤
I definitely will do. 🙂 Thank you. xx
Food is for me! But I would eat unhealthy food…. oopppss! Need to find a healthy option!
BTW

Thank you so much Etain! For some reason this had gone into the spam folder so have only just got it. xx
Haha! You’re welcome!!!
I’m really emotional so often I cry and that helps me ,forest relieve stress for me just walking around them and listening to music xx
They’re great ideas! One of my problems is I tend to hold emotions in so crying more often is definitely something that would help me. I love forests and woods aswell. xx
Hope crying works a bit for you! I find it relaxes me after crying xx
Hey! So as I love reading your blogs I thought of nominating you for the “Mystery Blogger Award”.
You’ll have to answer five questions that you’ll find on my site https://saorsablogs.blog/ and the rules have been listed there too. Best of Luck!!!
Thank you so much for nominating me for this! I really appreciate it. 🙂 xx
Ahh no problem❤️
wishing you all the very best, dear dinosarusdonkeysandms – fear is the most corrosive emotion for me. talking with others is good, so long as they’re the sorts who won’t further escalate my terrors. writing helps me. am not at all religious & am only vaguely spiritual, but prayer helps, as do the prayers of others. Ah – & reading!
Thank you for your comment Daal. I definitely agree with you, it’s got to be people that help put your fears into perspective or somehow find the funny side to them. I always find that helps, even if the situation is really serious. Writing, reading and prayers are all great ones aswell. 🙂 xx
So lovely to meet you! This is a helpful post, thank you for the reminders to reduce stress. 🙂
For me, here are a few things that I do:
1. meditate – tuning inside helps me let go <3
2. breathing – I take 3 deep breaths
3. humor – telling a joke can help me to lighten up
Thanks again, and so glad you are following my blog. 🙂 Welcome!
Blessings,
Debbie
Thank you for your lovely comment. I hope some people find this post useful. 🙂
Humour is an amazing one! Even when you’re feeling really low a good laugh always makes you feel like your problems are a bit more management. Thank you for the other two aswell. Breathing is one I’m trying to do more of at the moment. xx
For me it’s watching movies or shopping … 😍😍😍
my stress relivers comes with a price tag 😃 and when I’m broke .. walking is the best choice…
Great post !!! Loved it ❤
Thank you! 🙂 Lol, that’s the only problem with the shopping one. Watching movies and walking are great though! 🙂 xx
Haha true!! Thank you … very nice blog 😊😊
Reblogged this on Dream Big, Dream Often and commented:
This is Dinosaurs, Donkeys and MS!!
Thank you! Hope you had a lovely weekend away. 🙂 xx
Thanks!!
Music is very good and soothing to calm ones nerves. G
Music is a really good one! Thank you for your comment. I have loads of ones to try out now. 🙂 xx
Great and welcome always.
I usually listen to music and pet the dogs. My service-dog-in-training is very understanding when I need to cuddle.
Aww, animals are amazing for making you feel better. They’re always there for you aswell. xx
All of the above plus hot baths, reading, and petting my cat 😀
Hot bath and reading is what I’ve done tonight. 🙂 All pets are amazing for anxiety and helping with relaxation. xx
I agree with some of the other comments that music is good but I think it must be carefully chosen. For me my bet stress buster is riding my horse. If I get anxious about a competition coming up then I sit and close my eyes and concentrate on breathing out and letting go and breathing in and handing over my anxiety to a higher power. I love your photos! They are so fitting for this post.
Breathing can be so powerful. Your horses are beautiful, I can imagine they would always help with coping with stress. 🙂 x
I love yoga! It’s been awhile but I think I need to start back 😊
I really need to aswell. I use to do it everyday but haven’t been as much recently. It does make you feel so relaxed though! xx
I just nominated you for the One Lovely Blog, because your blog is so great.! There’s no pressure to make a post, but just letting you know I nominated you! <3 🙂

Thank you so much Tabi. Love the title of this one ‘One Lovely Blog’ 🙂 So cute sounding. xx
You’re very welcome! I thought the same! 😊❤️
Hi. I’m glad to have found your blog. I have chronic illness and mental illness. I’ve been using mindfulness practice to reduce anxiety. Finding it useful, but as usual, hard to remind myself to do it. It takes practice. I’m enjoying your light-hearted approach and look forward to reading more!
Thank you! I’m glad you like my blog. I am now following your blog too. 🙂 Your dog is adorable! 🙂 xx
Thank you! 🙂
Gardening. Watching anything grow . Take cuttings of everything and see if they will root on the window sill and the pot them on. Following life takes your mind off worrying about your own health. I am few years in from ms diagnosis and in very good health, so chin up and grow stuff!
Gardening and watching things grow is a brilliant one! I haven’t tried to grow anything in a while though so I might give that another try soon. Just have my cactuses at the moment. 🙂 You’re the same as me, I’m a few years in aswell but after a recent relapse and now having tests for other health problems it all got abit much. Doing much better now. 🙂 Following life is definitely the key. Thank you. 🙂 xx
Glad to hear things have settled down. Cactus are great, but dont change much. try growing some seedlings next month when the days are longer. If you dont have garden grow something you can put in a hanging basket. Spider plants are very easy and great fun.
I love cactus. 🙂 I’ll have a go with spider plants. I know they grow well as I got one for my dad years ago and his whole kitchen and lounge were covered in them after a few years! 🙂 Thank you for the suggestions. xx
I loved your post, I personally just started doing a 10 min yoga routine to start my day, I also listen to inspirational pod casts or audio books. I understand the anxiety, stress, I have a stressful job and sometimes has a lot of negative aspects to it. Good luck to you !
Thank you! I love yoga, it always helps to make me feel more relaxed. Which pod casts do you listen too? I hadn’t thought of that! xx
I listen to the Daily boost ( these are usually about 10 min) This is your life with Michael Hyatt and I really like Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert. These are a few of my favorite. Good luck to you.
Thank you! 10 minutes sounds perfect! 🙂 Will give them a try. xx
