…to a magical land! Hopefully. 🙂 This week we’re making the big step of moving from wordpress.com to wordpress.org, and therefore Dizzy becoming a self hosting donkey. 🙂 She’s very excited about the whole thing, but I’m finding it a little scary!

We just wanted to let you know incase our site goes wibbly wobbly during that time, or we can’t access and use it like normal. Hopefully we’ll still be around over the next few days, but otherwise we’ll see you on the other side. 🙂 Wish us luck. 🙂

Dizzy’s already all packed and ready to go!! 🙂 xxx

  1. Been a WP.org website since day one. The only down-side is it’s harder to keep up with the upgrades…otherwise there is indeed more freedom and control than with WP.com
Good luck on the transition – hope to see you on the other side. (without using up too many spoons)

      1. I’m no techie, but my biggest words of advise on this: stay current! I didn’t, then tried to make up for it, had a difficult time doing so, then just decided to forgo it. Hardest part was basic backup – as a .org user, your best friend is your hosting service – get familiar with its functions!

That said, I’ve done fine without upgrades for the last 3 out of 5 years! 😉

Also, there’s a WP.org forum which helps in the early stages of getting used to the different ways of doing things from WP.com

To be clear, the advantages of .org far outweigh all of the above!

        1. Does it tell you when updates are available or do you have to find them? 🙂 I am the same with upgrades though. Any computer upgrades I only do when there’s no escaping them! And thank you, I didn’t even know there was a forum! 🙂 xxx

  2. Congratulations with your big move! As always, Dizzy looks adorable with her wardrobe of choice and looks excited and happy!! I wish you both the best of luck, but I already know you will be successful with this transition!! All my love to you and Dizzy!!

  3. Good luck with this move Heather and I am glad I have your e-mail address in guess you get lost in the migration, but I’m sure you and Dizzy will do fine.

      1. I hope it works out as well. A fellow blogger went the opposite way recently – he is a photographer in the UK and ran out of room to display his pictures so had to switch. Fingers crossed there are no glitches Heather.

    1. Thank you. And Bluehost, it seems to be the best one for wordpress, and other people I know seem happy with them. 🙂 Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly, and hopefully you will still be following us and we should come up in your reader as normal. Hopefully! 🙂 x Hope you’re having a wonderful week. 🙂 xxx

    1. Thank you! We have now moved over! Still fussing around themes and things, but our site have successfully moved. 🙂 xxx

  4. Woo! Are you liking .org so far? Meeting expectations? I considered it once, but didn’t in the end. I would be interested to know how it goes for you.

    1. I am liking it. It has been abit of a challenge, and there’s all this new stuff that you can do with your site on there, but just no idea how you do any of it! 🙂 How comes your decided against it in the end? Even though I had been putting it off for over a year before I finally did it. 🙂 xxx

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
