In the UK we are now in week 8 of lockdown, and although Dizzy and I are doing fine, we know a few people who are really struggling. And one of the hardest things is not being able to go and see them to cheer them up. Especially for Dizzy, who is always so good at making people feel happier. 🙂

Because of this, it has got Dizzy thinking of little gift ideas to send to people during this difficult time, which are perfect for anyone (people or donkeys) who are either feeling blue or looking for things to do.

Flowers

Any flowers! They always manage to brighten our day, and then make us feel happy all week (every time we look at them). The only problem is trying to stop Dizzy was nibbling on them. She is rather partial to a little flower 🙂

Letterbox flowers are also super popular at the moment as they can be delivered without the need for any human contact. The postman can just pop them through the letterbox! You can even get discounts with some places at the moment, such as with the Bloom and Wild voucher code.

De-Stressing Delights

We know a few people who are really struggling with stress and anxiety at the moment, and who need help to de-stress during the lockdown. A calming gift can include many items, such as bath bombs, candles, relaxing music and pampering packs. 🙂

Books

Lots of people love reading, but with a lot of shops and libraries shut at the moment, books can be harder to find. You could either send a new book as a gift, or a couple of your own that you have really enjoyed reading. 🙂

Food

Dizzy loves her food, and this is probably her favourite suggestion! 🙂 This can be anything from healthy meals and snacks, to the not so healthy (but also equally as yummy) foods and snacks. 🙂 Again, there are letterbox hampers you can buy as well!

Toilet roll!

Okay, this is Dizzy trying to be a funny donkey… Especially as now the toilet roll shortage of 2020 does seem to have come to an end. 🙂 But it can still be a great idea to send people essential items, that they may struggle to get.

Puzzles

Or other activities that someone can do at home. We love puzzles! But this could also be things such as paints, maths problems, games, cross stitch kits or knitting kits!

Have you sent or received any amazing gifts during the lockdown so far? We would love to hear what they have been. 🙂 xxx

  1. Never thought I would feel this way as usually very joyful & positive but today I am struggling. It’s always a challenge home schooling a 7yr old but even harder when I’m the only teacher in the school (daddy is working at sea, another 6 days til he’s home & counting!) I could use something to make me smile right now.

    1. I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling at the moment; it is such a hard time. x If I’ve worked this out right, then daddy should be home in two days time? 🙂 Please take care, and let us know if there is anything Dizzy and I can do. xxx

  2. I recently sent some jigsaw puzzles to a friend and she loved it! I also sent some homemade zucchini bread to my dad.

    Great ideas, Dizzy!

    1. They both sound wonderful gifts to send. I do love puzzles, and they are great for helping to relax you in the evening. 🙂 And the bread sounds amazing! Are you good at bread making? xxx

  3. These photos are delightful and make me so happy! A couple weeks ago we received a quarantine package of a roll of t.p., a puzzle, and a candied apple that looked like a face with a mask on. I sent pretty scented soaps to some special moms for Mother’s Day (which also supported a small business) and I’ve been mailing out a lot of cards to friends. I love the book idea!

    1. Aww, I love puzzles! What was the puzzle picture? 🙂 x I do think sending little gifts can make such a difference, and can really brighten someone’s day; I am sure the scented soaps were very well received. 🙂 xxx

      1. The puzzle was an old fashioned scene of Salt Lake City, Utah. (We live in northern Utah.) I agree, I think it’s so nice to be thought of by someone, especially during this crazy time.

  4. Aww this is such a sweet idea for a post, to send someone a little ‘thinking of you’ gift. I’m not surprised you thought of something so kind, Heather. Or you, Dizzy, I know you’ve got a heart of gold, too! Perhaps with the loo roll could be a bag of flour (if lucky enough to find it, as it seems more rare than some ancient Egyptian artefact these days!) xx

    1. Flour is impossible to get hold off! Dizzy has been wanting to make a cake, but I have told her that she will have to be a patient and wait for flour to be available again. 🙂 xxx

  5. those are great ideas!! Plants for the garden are good gifts, fancy soaps and hand cream because people are washing their hands so much and sending meat or chicken is a good idea too!

  6. Those are smart ideas you and Dizzy came up with. No one sent me any surprises – oh well. It will keep me from gaining those dreaded “Quarantine 15” pounds. 🙂

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
