Last week me and Dizzy went to the New Forest! This was Dizzy’s first holiday away! I must admit at first I did feel like I couldn’t really be bothered to go. With my anxiety levels still pretty high and the MS deciding to be super grumpy a lot of the time, at the moment I didn’t feel like doing much more than hiding in bed over the half term holiday.
I’m really glad I did go though! I lived in the New Forest for over five years so it kind of feels like a home from home, which at the moment made it feel much more manageable.
So the first couple of days we went off looking for donkeys (ok, we did this every day but didn’t see any!) and ponies.
Then we spent the day by the sea feeding the ducks, swans and seagulls! As my legs were feeling pretty wobbly that day Dizzy thought sailing might be a better idea…
Then we saw Shetland ponies! I got abit worried that this one was going to try and eat Dizzy! … but he just wanted to say hello! 🙂
Dizzy then made friends with this little Shetland who very kindly give him a pony ride.
Last day was spent by the sea! (I told Dizzy they have a donkey sanctuary on the Isle of Wight so we might visit there next time 🙂 )
It was a really lovely week away and it’s definitely helped me a bit with my stress levels. After having 8 weeks of hardly any sleep, I actually had three normal nights sleep while away which was pretty amazing! Also has helped me to get walking a bit more too. Slowly, but getting there! 🙂
Think for the next one we’re off to Scotland! What’s everyone else got planned for their next holidays? xx
so cute!
Thank you! 🙂 xx
Sometimes, a change is as good as a … well you know. So glad you managed to get away for a bit, and GOOD SLEEP as well!
Thanks for sharing.
I’ve always been a massive sleep person aswell. Always been happiest in my bed. 🙂 So glad just to start having a few normal nights sleep again. 🙂 xx
Very funny photos! Confidence is everything and with a knitted donkey you can’t go wrong!
You definitely can’t. Glad you liked the photos! 🙂 xx
What a wonderful adventure you had!!
It was lovely, so relaxing aswell. 🙂 xx
I’m glad you and Dizzy had a loveley holiday. Beautiful photographs xx
Thank you! 🙂 Dizzy is very photogenic! xx
Looks like you and Dizzy had a lovely time! I’m so glad Dizzy didn’t get eaten by the pony though… 😊 Love all the photos! ❤️😊

Me too! I could just imagine myself running after a pony trying to get Dizzy back. 🙂 Glad you love all the photos. 🙂 xx
Haha oh no! 😊❤️
I’m glad you had a good time and got some all important rest.
Thank you. 🙂 I’m terrible when I don’t get my sleep. I’ve always spent a lot of my time happily sleeping so very glad it’s starting to get back on track. 🙂 xx
Sounds like both you and Dizzy had a great time! Did you knit her yourself?
We did, really relaxing which is just what I needed. 🙂 No, I’m useless at knitting (I have tried). She’s from the Donkey Sanctuary https://www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/ Volunteers knit them and then the money goes to the donkeys. 🙂 xx
That is such a sweet thing. I might have to get myself a little donkey as I feel we all need a dizzy in our lives!
I think that would be amazing if everyone had a Dizzy. 🙂 Send me a photo if you do decide to get a little donkey yourself. I’d love to see him. 🙂 xx
Oh my goodness! Those ponies are so cute 🙂 Love all the pictures!!
Thank you. I love the New Forest ponies. They are so friendly aswell. 🙂 xx
Such cute and amazing photos, awesoms one yo! Btw your blog name is so cool😀
Thank you for the lovely comment! Glad you like the blog name too, it did take me a while to settle on it but feels it sums me up pretty well. 🙂 xx
Oh, awesome😄 I’m looking forward to read more from you. Happy Blogging😀
Great photos, so pleased you had a great visit to ‘home’ better luck next time with the donkey search ( many commoners remove the donkey’s over the winter as they don’t cope as well as the ponies, Beaulieu, pulley, brockenhurst sometimes will still have donkeys over winter), if you visit again in the summer you will be delighted to see the baby foal donkeys….always a big ahhhhh ❤️
I was hoping to see the Brockenhurst one’s. I nearly always see them but not this time. 🙁 We didn’t go Beaulieu way this time but they have really cute ones! I think we will be back again later in the year, just making sure to avoid the school holidays. It was always so busy then! Baby donkeys would be amazing. 🙂 xx
Brilliant, you should drop me a message to meet up when you are next down, coffee in burley or something similar, and go donkey hunting, I could always do with more photos for reference…… As long as I am free from work 😀
I will do! That would be lovely to meet up and go donkey hunting. 🙂 I’ve got to find some next time. xx
Ahh I know the feeling 😀
So cute. A definite day brightener.
Really happy you like it! The ponies were just so cute. 🙂 xx
👍
So happy and cute is your little darling love ❤️.
I know! 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to read my post. 🙂 xx
Welcome.
I’m so glad you got the chance to get away. It’s important, even when we think we don’t feel up to things, to at least give them a try.
It’s true. And once you’re there it’s lovely! Its just the getting going bit. 🙂 xx
True.
It is so lovely having some time away! We are going to Florida in a few weeks – feeling a bit nervous about the heat and the fact it is long haul (how am I going to cope with the jet lag?!). Your break looks lovely and relaxing 🙂 xx
It really is. It just feels like things would be easier staying at home and you forget how lovely it is to be away. Florida will be amazing! Just carry lots of cold water round with you. 🙂 xx

This is Dinosaurs, Donkeys and MS!
Thank you! 🙂 xx
🤗
The times that I have not allowed my MS to rule my life, it’s always turned out to be a blessing. I may have MS, but MS does not have me!
It’s true. Its just finding that balance but making sure it doesn’t rule your life. I do sometimes need a reminder of that. Thank you. Xx
Me too!
Aww! I love Dizzy and I love the donkey and the Shetland ponies (is that one or two ponies? The mane looks a different color in several pictures). And the way you take the pictures as if they’re from their point of view. LOL!
I know what you mean about sleeping problems. I’ve always had horrible sleeping patterns and probably won’t get a great night sleep until I retire. I’m glad that you were able to rest, relax and have fun with your friends. 😀
Thank you! Glad you love the photos. It is two Shetland ponies! There was a little group of four but the other two seemed a bit nervous so we left them to their munching. 🙂
I hope its not that long till you have a normal sleeping pattern! At the moment I’m trying herbal stuff and lavender spray. Can’t decide if its helping or not. Xx
Very cute!
Thank you! Glad you like them. 🙂 xxx
I loved the photos of Dizzy with the ponies!
Thank you. Glad you like them! 🙂 xxx

What a cute post Heather and Dizzy – I did not know you at this time and I’ve heard of Shetland ponies but never seen a picture of one before.
