So Dizzy and I have reached the age of 30! It was a couple of weeks ago, but we’ve been through sad, happy, excited and finally realising we feel pretty much exactly how we did at 29! I think any age with a 0 at the end just feels really, really big! Although, if you ask Dizzy, she’s still 29…

Although we have excepted the now being 30, we have also hit a little mid, mid life crisis. Does that even exist? :/ But it has also got us thinking about the positives and all the things we have learnt in the 30 years of being here. 🙂 We’ve even thought of 30! One for each year. 🙂

  1. Do what makes you happy 🙂
  2. Realise that other people’s opinions don’t matter
  3. Don’t put of things which you want to do. Do them now!
  4. Spend time with the people who mean the most to you
  5. See each day as a gift
  6. Laugh and be silly!
  7. Find yourself a donkey… 🙂
  8. Do (some) things that scare you
  9. Listen to your body
  10. Treat yourself!
  11. Sleep! 🙂
  12. Eat ginger nut biscuits
  13. Don’t be scared to say no
  14. Appreciate the little things in life
  15. Be creative
  16. Be still
  17. Learn new things
  18. Try not to worry about the small things
  19. Try not to worry about the things you cannot change
  20. Just try not to worry… J
  21. Spend time in the wild
  22. Tell and listen to stories
  23. Help others
  24. Cuddle! Especially donkeys!
  25. Be kind to others
  26. Be kind to yourself
  27. Make time just for you
  28. Follow your heart
  29. Imagine, imagine, imagine
  30. Believe in magic 🙂

In terms of our mid, mid life crisis, Dizzy and I pottered off to have our second lobes pierced, with the idea of a few more to come. Did we also mention we’re booked in for a tattoo… ? 🙂

What have you learnt from life so far, and have you done anything a little different or scary when you’re hit a birthday with an 0 at the end? 🙂 xxxx

          1. Tick bite with the tell tale red bulls eye rash around it. I have caught it very early, but I am on a second course of antibiotics as the first lot didnt completely kill the bacterial infection. Still working full time! 🌸🌞

          2. Did you even see the tick? I hope the second antibiotics at least kill the bacterial infection. Make sure you are looking after yourself! Otherwise I will send Dizzy round. 🙂 xxx

          3. No, but it left the unmistakable bulls eye red rash around the bite. Unfortunately it is increasingly common in my part of the world. I wish Dizzy could make the tablets taste better! Hope you are doing well.

          4. I have heard they are getting more and more common, and the bulls eye rash is the thing to look out for. I’m just glad you got treatment quickly! I’ll ask Dizzy, and although she has many talents, that one might be going a little far. 🙂 Do you have many to take? x And we’re doing fine. Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. 🙂 xxx

  1. So the tatoo – a mini donkey perhaps?
    😉
Congrats on 30 and I agree, it’s that pesky zero at the end of certain ages that gets me, too. Nines are fine by me…hmm maybe that’s why I happily chant along with the Fab Four on their ‘number 9’ song on the White Album.
    HA!
(Way before Dizzy’s time, I know.)

    1. Hehe, I agree. All other numbers are fine, and then that 0 comes along… And Dizzy is convinced it’s going to be a Dizzy tattoo, but it’s actually going to be dragons! A little different, but maybe a donkey next time… 🙂 xxx

  2. Belated happy birthday to you both.
I’m now 63 and I thought I would be lucky if I was still alive at 30.
I now treat each day as a gift and live it to the fullest of my ability, so my advice to all is do the same.
    🎂🎉🎁🎂🎁🎉

    1. I love that piece of advice. It’s so important to remember that, and to make the most of each day. None of use ever know how long we really have. xx Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. 🙂 xxx

  3. Belated Happy Birthday Heather. You are almost, but not quite half my age! The birthdays with the 0’s are exciting. I have just 2 years to go to get my old age pension, yet I still feel young. Must be the effect of all my lovely friends and donkeys…

    1. I need to take on your attitude, and see them as exciting! Although, I am feeling a little more excited about it now. It was just the last night of being 29; I looked well miserable! Luckily Dizzy was her usual cheery self. 🙂 xxx

  4. A donkey with a tattoo? Sounds like yo u are wanting to brand him. We do that with cattle, not intelligent creatures like Dizzy!

Happy birthday! It just keeps getting harder each year that passes…

  5. happy birthday! i recently hit a birthday with a 0 at the end. it’s funny that those milestones always inspire us to reevaluate life and do something daring. hope yours was fabulous!

    1. Thank you Lindsay! And it’s true! It does encourage you to do the things you’re never been quite brave enough to do! I hope you had a lovely recent 0 birthday too. 🙂 xxx

    1. Dizzy keeps on going on about donkey tattoos (that resemble a certain donkey…), but it’s actually going to be dragons. I love fantasy! Although maybe if I manage to get through this one, a donkey one might come later on. 🙂 It’s on Tuesday, and I am starting to get abit nervous! xxx

        1. Hehe, no, but I think it could be! Although it was alot less painful than I was expecting. And I didn’t even faint when I saw the needle. 🙂 I will post a photo of my tattoo tomorrow. 🙂 xxx

  6. Thank you! What a tremendous list to aim for each day and each chapter! May we all be able to see light in the darkness! 🙂

  7. Happy belated birthday Heather! I hope you and Dizzy had a wonderful day! I love your list – definitely lots of things we need to remember. 😊 I look forward to seeing your new tattoo. Sending hugs to you and Dizzy!

    1. Thank you Terri! We did have a lovely day, and Dizzy even got to make some new donkey friends! 🙂 Tattoo day is Tuesday. Getting abit nervous now! But Dizzy has said she will come along for moral support. 🙂 x We hope you have had a lovely weekend. 🙂 xxx

  8. Happy belated birthday Heather (and Dizzy) – I loved your list, and noticed that Dizzy got her “Eat ginger nut biscuits” in there at #12. Well, this was a list of positive thoughts and actions. Don’t forget to show us how you and Dizzy’s tattoo turned out.

    1. Dizzy did want that one at number 1. 🙂 And we will. Tattoo day is Tuesday! Dizzy’s going to come along and hold my hand. 🙂 x How has your weekend been? It’s been so lovely and warm here, almost like summer! xxx

      1. Are you going to post a picture? Dizzy will keep you calm while they do their handiwork – must have something to commemorate such a monumental birthday.
Do tell Dizzy to take a picture and show us okay. 🙂

        1. I will get Dizzy to pop a photo up tomorrow! 🙂 It wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting! And I do love the results. Although Dizzy is still in a strop about it not being of a donkey… 🙂 xxx

          1. OK, I will let you off the proverbial hook for now. 🙂 Yes, do tell Dizzy as you are dainty and can’t have a whole arm with Dizzy’s likeness!

  9. Brilliant list Heather, I was quite happy turning 30 and then 40… but I am 41 now and that feels a bit old suddenly!! I think that I got all my ‘rash’ behaviour out when I was young – by the time I was 20 I had 4 piercings in one ear, three in the other, my bellybutton pierced and two tattoos! I am interested to see what you go for, how exciting! Happy belated birthday lovely xxx

  10. A very, very HAPPY (and very belated) BIRTHDAY! I’ve lost track of the mid midlife crises I’ve had, and it doesn’t have to be a birthday with a 0 on the end. I love your list, and I think the 30s can be the years to really implement all of those things, especially worrying less, remembering others opinions don’t matter, and doing what makes you happy ♥🌷
    Caz xxxxx

    1. Thank you Caz! And thank you for your lovely comment. Not worrying so much, and remembering that other people’s opinions don’t matter are two of the ones I need to work on the most. xxx

  11. Happy belated Birthday! Thirty hit me hard too; but forty didn’t phase me. What a great list you have created! At some point it begins to feel like age is just a number, and all those expectations are just soft goals. I’ve found greater peace in finding the joy in each day rather than categorizing an entire year, but that didn’t come until my late 40s. 🙂 Hoping you have a lovely weekend. 🌸

    1. Thank you! And for some reason 30 does seem a massive number. Even though it’s really not! 🙂 And I like your term of ‘soft goals’. 🙂 I’m going to remember that. 🙂 xxx

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
