Dizzy and I know that it is easy to get distracted in life. And we also appreciate the human (and donkey) instinct to compare ourselves to others and sometimes feel inferior (although, Dizzy doesn’t seem to worry about these things to often!).

However, nobody really knows what is going on in another person’s life. And even people that present their perfect lives on social media rarely lead a life free from stress and problems. We only know what we are shown, and usually this is only a tiny aspect of anyone’s life. xx Therefore, the only thing we can do is focus on own own lives and offering kindness to others. xx

Not comparing can be tricky though, and it’s a process that can start with realising what matters in your life. 🙂

Nothing in this life is more significant than our health. You don’t have to be living with MS to benefit from an added focus on your health. Dizzy and I always try to get a great night’s rest while nutrition is obviously crucial too. If you are capable of getting in some exercise during the day, you should aim to as well. 🙂

But you’ve also probably heard the phrase: ‘healthy body, healthy mind’. Taking time out of your day to focus on your mental wellbeing can be equally important. From meditation to talking with friends on Facetime, the benefits are endless. And also friends of the furry kind, such as a Dizzy donkey, can make a big difference! 🙂

Another aspect to consider, which is not nearly as exciting as thinking about donkeys, is finance and living within our means. Every day I have to remind Dizzy that we cannot buy all the ginger nut biscuits in the supermarket! Although, this is also to do with preventing her from becoming a rather chubby donkey…

But financial savings can be made in many areas without affecting your quality of life (Dizzy really doesn’t really need 50 packs of ginger nut biscuits a day…). Another example, are reliable used cars, such as our bright yellow Mollie, who we purchased last Summer. 🙂

Further savings can also be made by switching energy suppliers or changing TV packages. (We’re very lucky, as Sid does all of these jobs – he loves all the searching!) 🙂

And finally, we mustn’t forget our life goals and doing the things that make us happy! 🙂 Time is our most valuable resource, and it should be spent making magical memories with the people (and donkeys) we love. 🙂

None of us are perfect (except Dizzy…)! But we should always keep a focus on the things that matter most, and remember that we are all amazing, unique and wonderful individuals! 🙂 xxx

  1. There’s nowt wrong with a chubby donkey 😂

You’re so right about it being hard to not compare to others. I find myself getting very frustrated with not being able to manage things like I used to, with everything taking longer and needing breaks and losing so much time to being too poorly. It throws prioritising out of whack because you end up so far behind, then we berate ourselves a little more for not having got everything done. It’s not sustainable.

I also think we can lose sight of the life goals and things that make us happy, so I’m glad you’ve included that here as it seems obvious, yet I bet a lot of us don’t have these on our to-do list so it’s a very good reminder.

    Sending hugs.
    Caz xx

    1. I completely agree. Especially when you see so many other people of the same age doing loads of things! You can’t help but compare sometimes. xx And things that make us happy are definitely vital! 🙂 Thank you for your wonderful comments as always Caz. 🙂 xxx

  2. Important stuff prioritizing! And not just the daily tasks but our long term goals and our life’s passions need to be kept in the front line.

  3. Dizzy gives sound advice. I hit a short slump and when I took a look at Dotty I just focused on how to get back on track and it is clearly focusing on my goals, focusing on what I want each day and keeping on track. I have managed to get myself out of the slump I was in and not it is upwards and onwards .

    1. I am so glad you have managed to come out the other side of your slump. 🙂 I think we all hit them sometimes. 🙁 xx Is the weather still nice there? 🙂 xxx

  4. You and Dizzy should be hanging out your doctor shingle Heather. This is all good advice girls, especially the social media part. Many a teen here in my local community has unfortunately taken their life as they see all their friends with hundreds of friends and posting where they’ve been, what they’ve seen all the time. Social media is taking over our lives.

      1. Yes, social media hogs a lot of your time if you let it. I do try to limit my time there but I am drawn in as I don’t have TV so I try to get my news and some park and nature sites off Facebook and Twitter. I heard more things are opening up in the U.K. – it is the same here, but first of all we were all so careful and then suddenly, two weeks ago, no more masking up (if you’re vaccinated, but people are lying as you may guess) and less restrictions on everything, but I am staying masked up and keeping away from crowds to stay safe, even with both doses of the vaccine done. I hope you both are as well Heather.

        1. We are staying masked up and away from most other people and donkeys! The numbers are increasing again, and they are still planning a complete unlocking on the 21st. I’m not sure it will happen though. Keep safe! 🙂 xxxx

          1. I am doing that too Heather. We’re having quite the heat wave here … second week of it and stretching into next week, but I’m still keeping the mask on and not taking any chances, no matter how many restrictions are lifted. Okay, I thought you were getting a big unlocking soon … I know you just had some other restrictions lifted as well. I live close to the border between the U.S. and Canada and it has been shut down since March 2020 (except for truck transit to deliver goods to each side). The Americans want to re-open the border; the Canadians do not – not as many people have been vaccinated in Canada. I think it will be awhile longer before it’s completely opened up … I don’t blame PM Trudeau for keeping it closed. You and Dizzy keep safe Heather. {{{ hugs to you }}}

          2. Well that is good – makes it more bearable. We have a two-day reprieve coming up with no rain and no heat and humidity, very nice weather, but then Sunday is back to 90 F (32 C) again. Mother Nature is in a cantankerous mood this Summer and I’m ready for Fall.

  5. Before social media I used to bin woman’s magazines in doctors waiting rooms and offices as reading them simply makes people dissatisfied and unhappy. Now social media has replaced magazines and people are even more miserable than before. Bin all but the good stuff( like Dizzy !) and be happy and free from pointless comparisons .

    1. I agree! 🙂 And about just keeping the good stuff, as we do like to look at the pictures of donkeys and doggies on social media. 🙂 There was a video of a donkey that just wanted lots of cuddles the other day! 🙂 xxx

Let us know your thoughts, they always make for a very happy Dizzy :)
