It’s World Book Day! And me and Dizzy have always loved the Harry Potter books. So much so that Dizzy decided she wanted to dress up for the day, and we’ve even made our own little version. Our one has turned out being very loosely based on the actual story (even though Dizzy seems to have decided it’s basically the same…). 🙂

We’d love to know what your favourite book is and if you have ever dressed up as your favourite character? 🙂 xxx

Dizzy Dotter and the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit

Once there was a little donkey called Dizzy Dotter. Poor Dizzy was an orphan (her parents had been killed by the Evil donkey, Bob the donkey) and at the age of just one years old she went to live with some distant relatives, who turned out to be a family of penguins!

Unfortunately the penguins were unsure of Dizzy. She was very different to them and because of this they decided to pop her in a cupboard out of sight.

One day though, when Dizzy was sitting in her little cupboard, she heard the post come through the letterbox. Normally she wouldn’t collect the post but as all the penguins were out she decided to have a little look. She couldn’t believe it when she saw a letter addressed to herself!

Dizzy ripped into the letter to discovered she was a Donkey Dizard (a Wizard Donkey) and was invited to attend the Donkey Dizard School of Dizardy! She carefully read her letter to find out all about her new school. She would be starting in just a couple of weeks.

On September 1st Dizzy was ready for her first day of school! She’d even found an owl to take with her.

Dizzy loved being at her new school. She made new friends (Daisy and Mollie), there always seemed to be a big supply of ginger nut biscuits available (Dizzy had discovered where the kitchens were), and she attended a range of different lessons which included:

Potions,

Which Dizzy wasn’t quite able to get the hang off;

Charms,

Where Dizzy spent all her time trying to make Ginger Nut Biscuits appear – and failing. Her teacher did tell her about the legend of the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit though, which would allow the owner, with the use of the correct spell, to have all the ginger nut biscuits in the world;

Divination,

Dizzy wasn’t very good at this one either, but she did like looking at herself in the crystal ball and making up wild predictions about the world being covered in ginger nut biscuits;

And flying – which Dizzy turned out to be really very good at!

The donkeys also sometimes went for a little potter around the Wintery Wilderness, even though this wasn’t strictly allowed.

One day on their travels they bumped into a unicorn!

She was very beautiful and told the donkeys that they needed to be careful. The Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit was hidden in the school and Bob the Evil Donkey was on a mission to steal it! This worried Dizzy but she decided to try and not think about it too much.

The whole year went very fast for Dizzy and she almost forgot about the unicorns warning. That was until late one night when she was returning from a sneaky trip to the kitchens, she saw Bob the Evil Donkey heading towards an abandoned corridor. Dizzy wasn’t sure how he had gotten into the school but she followed the evil donkey. He led her to where the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit was being safely hidden.

Just as Bob was about to complete the spell to activate the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit…

… Dizzy pottered over and knocked him over!

She knew the Ginger Nut Biscuit was too dangerous to keep around (donkey’s needed their ginger nut biscuits) so she decided to eat it. That way no one would be able to ever cast the spell on it. By the time Dizzy looked up from her munching Bob had disappeared in a puff of smoke!

Dizzy was a hero! And to celebrate the donkeys at the school had a feast of ginger nut biscuits!

And even though she was sad to go back to her family of penguins for the Summer, she couldn’t wait to return for her second year at Donkey Dizard’s School of Dizardy. 🙂
