It’s World Book Day! And me and Dizzy have always loved the Harry Potter books. So much so that Dizzy decided she wanted to dress up for the day, and we’ve even made our own little version. Our one has turned out being very loosely based on the actual story (even though Dizzy seems to have decided it’s basically the same…). 🙂
We’d love to know what your favourite book is and if you have ever dressed up as your favourite character? 🙂 xxx
Dizzy Dotter and the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit
Once there was a little donkey called Dizzy Dotter. Poor Dizzy was an orphan (her parents had been killed by the Evil donkey, Bob the donkey) and at the age of just one years old she went to live with some distant relatives, who turned out to be a family of penguins!
Unfortunately the penguins were unsure of Dizzy. She was very different to them and because of this they decided to pop her in a cupboard out of sight.
One day though, when Dizzy was sitting in her little cupboard, she heard the post come through the letterbox. Normally she wouldn’t collect the post but as all the penguins were out she decided to have a little look. She couldn’t believe it when she saw a letter addressed to herself!
Dizzy ripped into the letter to discovered she was a Donkey Dizard (a Wizard Donkey) and was invited to attend the Donkey Dizard School of Dizardy! She carefully read her letter to find out all about her new school. She would be starting in just a couple of weeks.
On September 1st Dizzy was ready for her first day of school! She’d even found an owl to take with her.
Dizzy loved being at her new school. She made new friends (Daisy and Mollie), there always seemed to be a big supply of ginger nut biscuits available (Dizzy had discovered where the kitchens were), and she attended a range of different lessons which included:
Potions,
Which Dizzy wasn’t quite able to get the hang off;
Charms,
Where Dizzy spent all her time trying to make Ginger Nut Biscuits appear – and failing. Her teacher did tell her about the legend of the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit though, which would allow the owner, with the use of the correct spell, to have all the ginger nut biscuits in the world;
Divination,
Dizzy wasn’t very good at this one either, but she did like looking at herself in the crystal ball and making up wild predictions about the world being covered in ginger nut biscuits;
And flying – which Dizzy turned out to be really very good at!
The donkeys also sometimes went for a little potter around the Wintery Wilderness, even though this wasn’t strictly allowed.
One day on their travels they bumped into a unicorn!
She was very beautiful and told the donkeys that they needed to be careful. The Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit was hidden in the school and Bob the Evil Donkey was on a mission to steal it! This worried Dizzy but she decided to try and not think about it too much.
The whole year went very fast for Dizzy and she almost forgot about the unicorns warning. That was until late one night when she was returning from a sneaky trip to the kitchens, she saw Bob the Evil Donkey heading towards an abandoned corridor. Dizzy wasn’t sure how he had gotten into the school but she followed the evil donkey. He led her to where the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit was being safely hidden.
Just as Bob was about to complete the spell to activate the Philosophering Ginger Nut Biscuit…
… Dizzy pottered over and knocked him over!
She knew the Ginger Nut Biscuit was too dangerous to keep around (donkey’s needed their ginger nut biscuits) so she decided to eat it. That way no one would be able to ever cast the spell on it. By the time Dizzy looked up from her munching Bob had disappeared in a puff of smoke!
Dizzy was a hero! And to celebrate the donkeys at the school had a feast of ginger nut biscuits!
And even though she was sad to go back to her family of penguins for the Summer, she couldn’t wait to return for her second year at Donkey Dizard’s School of Dizardy. 🙂
Far too cute!
Hehe, thank you Jane. 🙂 xxx

Just wow… you have gone to so much effort… this is amazing!! ♥
Caz
Thanks Caz. 🙂 This is what happens when we’re snowed in. 🙂 xxx
When I’m snowed in I end up procrastinating & finding new things to clean & tidy up… Wish I could get my creative spark back to do something more meaningful. Looks like it’ll be another tidying up day today given the thick snow at the moment… Stay warm & take care! xx
I always need to do more tidying! The cold weather does just make me want to stay in bed too (even more than normal 🙂 ). Keep warm. 🙂 xxx
Oh my goodness this was so adorable and wonderful!!! Dizzy stories always make me smile but this one was so incredible! Have you ever thought about doing a Dizzy the donkey collection for children’s books? I mean I love it myself, but this would be an fabulous series!!!!! Much love to you and Dizzy always!!!
I 100% agree with you! This would be amazing as a collection of books!! xx
I would love to make this into a collection but I don’t want to get Dizzy is trouble for copy right or something. 🙂 I think she’ll have to come up with another collection of books idea. 🙂 xxx
Thank you Alyssa. 🙂 I do have the idea of doing some children’s books with Dizzy. 🙂 If you’d read them then that’s one reader already. 🙂 xx
Hope you’re having a great week. Me and Dizzy are staying in in the warm. We’ve had lots of snow. xx

Aww, thank you Terri. 🙂 We’ve been out in the snow a little bit, mostly been staying indoors in the warmth though. 🙂 xxx
That’s how I like snow best. I love to see everything blanketed in snow….but from my window.😄
Hehe, me too. It’s so pretty to look at, but I’m not a fan of it being really cold. xxx
Seeing your photos, especially of Dizzy and friends, always gives me a much needed smile. Thank you for sharing.

I laughed so much at your story and pictures of Dizzy and her companions. She is a marvel. I second your idea of creating books of Dizzy’s adventures. You guys are ace. xx
I’m glad they made me laugh. We definitely had alot fun doing them. Even though we did the ones in the snow abit speedily! 🙂 Me and Dizzy will have to start these books I think. 🙂 xxx
What a delight! I’m wondering if Dizzy and donkeys in general are good at sharing their cache of ginger biscuits? They look yummy and I’ve never tasted one!
Dizzy’s not exactly know for being very generous when it comes to sharing her ginger nut biscuits, but I’m sure she’d let you try one. 🙂 xxx
Love it. Love it. Love it.
… doing the Happy Dance …. (albeit inside her head. lol)
Aww I have had such a fun time reading this story. Thank you for the joy.
Sending much love to you and Dizzy. ~ Cobs. xxx

This post is precious 🙂 Love your family of penguins! xx
Aww, thank you. I love those penguins too! I bought them ages ago when the shop was selling them off really cheap. I meant to only buy one but I just couldn’t resist their little faces! So ended up with four… 🙂 xxx
Now that is The way to be 🙂 Why have just one when you can have all four! I will quote this to my hapless husband when I see something irresistible. xx
You should do! I was quite proud of myself for stopping at 4. They had loads! 🙂 🙂 xxx
Ah, I love it! Harry Potter has always been my favorite book series, I’m just a little obsessed. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve read the books, but it’s been at least 10, probably close to 15!
It’s my favourite book series aswell. 🙂 xx I’ve read them so many times and still love reading them 🙂 xxx

Thank you Candice. 🙂 xxx
Ha ha ha, I love this. Brilliant images capturing each moment of the tale. Such a clever Donkey Dizzy is. Munching a ginger biscuit is the perfect end to the fiendish Bob Donkey. Thank you for the cheery post.😊
Thank you, me and Dizzy did get quite carried away with our photos. 🙂 Dizzy thought it was too, but I suspect this might not be the last we hear of Bob the evil donkey. 🙂 🙂 Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. xxx
Delightful story. Was Harry Potters school of wizardry just down the road?
Thank you! 🙂 Unfortunately not that near. 🙂 xxx
How cute is all of this! Just adorable!

Hehe, thank you. 🙂 We did get quite carried away with this one. 🙂 xxx
This is better than the original Harry Potter!!!! I can’t stop laughing!! May I have some of the biscuts??? Or are they only for the donkeys? Maybe I should go steal them…… *evil laugh*
Aww, thank you so much! That’s really kind of you to say. 🙂 xx, Lol, Dizzy is rather possessive of her ginger nut biscuits, but if you keep giving her compliments she’ll probably let you have one. 🙂 🙂 xxx
Reblogged this on SEO.
Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂 xxx
It is my pleasure.
Fantastic! I’ve only just had chance to read this (catching up on my unread emails & don’t know how I had missed the link to this). What a wonderful story & your photo creations are brilliant. I loved reading this (I always love your blog & reading about Dizzy’s adventures) – I look forward to Dizzy’s 2nd year at the Donkey Dizard School of Dizardry!
Aww, thank you so much. We’re really glad you enjoyed reading about Dizzy’s first year at Dizardry school. 🙂 There will be a second year soon. 🙂 Hope you’re having a wonderful week. 🙂 xxx
