Once upon a time, there was a little donkey called Dotty. She was a very happy little donkey who loved everything, including playing in the fields, eeyoring and jumping with her friends. Most of all though, she loved pumpkins!
The farm she lived on happened to grow pumpkins, and every year, without fail, Dotty would get into the pumpkin field and munched her way through all the pumpkins. Nothing would stop her, and every year on the 31st October, the farmer would come outside to find a very large, sleepy Dotty in the middle of an empty pumpkin field.Ā
The farmer dearly loved Dotty, but he could no longer afford the loss of all the pumpkins. With a heavy heart, he told Dotty she had to go. He gave her one large pumpkin to take on her travels and bid her farewell.
Dotty, never having left the farm before, ventured cautiously along the long track. She was scared and alone, and did not know where to go.
After many miles though, she happened to come across a small village. They were incredibly excited to see the little donkey called Dotty and invited her to live with them. She was free to roam the village and all the residents offered to leave food out for her everyday and take care of her.
Dotty loved it! But every year, on 31st of October, she could not help but feel sad. She missed the delicious taste of the pumpkins. None of the residents knew what was making her so sad every Autumn and tried everything to cheer her up. But they did not know about the pumpkins and nothing worked.
One year, a lovely old lady, called Mrs. Squash, decided to grow her very first pumpkin. Everyday she tended to it, and watched it grow bigger and bigger and bigger. Mrs. Squash was very excited. It was to her upmost surprise though, that one morning she woke up to find a very happy, sleepy Dotty in her pumpkinless garden.
From that day on, on the 31st October, all residents put out one very large pumpkins for Dotty to eat. š And they all lived happily ever after. š
From me and Dizzy – Happy Halloween!! š xxx
Cute story! Happy Halloween!! š
Thank you! And Happy Halloween! š xxx
Omg! So cute! Next year Iām carving a sleeping donkey into a pumpkin! š
I would love that Meaghan. If you do, please send me a picture! I’m terrible with pumpkin carving. A very basic face is as far as I get. š Did you carve any this year? š xxx
Nice one ! Happy Halloween! to you and Dizzy!
We hope you had a lovely Halloween. š How has everything been going? xxx
I’m ok. I am not able to ride at the moment due to my replaced hip having worn out some of its working parts. It has lasted for 20 years so it’s past its best before date. I will be getting the worn our socket liner replaced when I get back from Florida in April. In the meantime my coach and her assistant are riding Biasini and he is going so well. So he’s ok! I am ok too and will get back to riding once my hip gets reworked.
I am glad Biasini is doing well, although, I bet he is missing you! At least it’s not too long to wait for the hip replacement. How long do you have to wait after it until you can ride again? I am still doing my weekly lesson with the RDA. I’ve had a slightly naughty pony though, who enjoys nibbling/biting people’s coats and getting rather excitable when we start trotting. š xxx
Pony are good at teaching people to ride just because they are naughty. Good to know you are still ridingš
Thank-you for another story with a happy ending. It is baffling when things go abruptly wrong. I have a couple of dumb questions. Where are the comments from the people’s row of photos who “like” the blog? Don’t they want a reply?
I am glad you liked the story Mary. We love a happy ending! š xx I don’t think they do. š But we really appreciate any comments or likes. They always make Dizzy and I very happy. š xxxx
I enjoyed this story, just like the princess story. I like all the pumpkins surrounding Dotty Heather … I hope Dizzy is not jealous as she had those cute pictures posed with the sunflower. š
Dizzy wasn’t too jealous as she got to munch on a couple afterwards. They’re not really gingery enough for Dizzy though. š xxx
Well that’s good – otherwise I could see Dizzy having a bit of an attitude as she is used to being the center of attention. š Yes, nothing tastes like a ginger biscuit, especially in Winter with hot cocoa. {{{ hugs to both of you }}}
Love this
Thank you. š xxx
