I thought I would just do a little update after my last blog post to say thank you to everyone for their lovely comments/adviceĀ and to also say we’ve found out weĀ will very likely be madeĀ redundant (It’s not official until after consultation periods). I made the mistake of not letting Dizzy go to the meeting for me! Should have taken her on Tuesday!
So after crying myself through most of the last few days we’ve been considering the negatives and positives of the situation!
Negatives:
- I won’t have a jobbbbb. Which in the ten years of working has never happened before. š I’ve always sort of rolled from one job to another…
- I’ll have to go to interviews. I am just awful at interviews. New people are abit scary in general and then on top of that pressure, you also have to sound like you know what you’re talking about!
- JustĀ generalĀ stress of knowingĀ I needĀ to find a new job.Ā š
Positives:
- Ā I do believe that one doorĀ closes so another can open. I just need to find it…
…Dizzy been helping and keepsĀ thinking she’s foundĀ it. I keep telling her that’s not quite what I mean…
2. No more stressful BTEC marking because it does just make me want to cry sometimes. (A-Level is so much simpler!) This was just one assignment for half a class.
3. Exploring new opportunities! This will enable me and Dizzy to think of and explore different opportunities. Which is scary but can also be exciting!
So we’ve got a system set up already! Dizzy is onĀ finding the jobsĀ and I’m on filling out the application forms. Even though I have caught Dizzy on twitter a few times. š
We’d love to hear any amazing job interviewing tips or techniques that you have. I’m not sure going in and just putting Dizzy on the table would work… š xxx
Good Luck. I have used Indeed as the site to find jobs in the past, and it’s worked for my location to get some good leads.
Thank you James! Dizzy is searching that one as we speak. š xxx
Prayers for your job hunting journey! I pray that God gives you the right job to use your talents and skills that God has given you! No real advice for jobhunting, you just have to keep at it!
Thank you so much. š I’m sure I will and that it will end up being a good thing in the end. Me and Dizzy definitely will keep at it. š Hope you are having a good week! xxx
Yes I am, thank you for asking! Last week I was experiencing dramatic increase in fatigue, but this week has been very good. Blessings!!
That’s really good! My fatigue has been better this week too. Maybe it’s something in the air. š xxx
Let’s go with that!
I hope finding a new job goes well. I too believe that when one door closes, another one opens. Your blog makes me smile and I look forward to your posts, so I truly hope it all works out for you!
Thank you so much! Getting more use to the idea now and I do believe everything happens for a reason. š How did your physics exam go? xxx
Good. Glad to hear it! My physics exam went quite well – thank you for asking! Fingers crossed for the results š xxx
That’s great you felt it went well. I’m sure it did! š xxx
Thanks. And I hope things go great for you!
Good luck with job hunt . …survived 3 redundancies in space of 10 years in my job…I was very lucky!!but know that awful feeling x
Thank you! I wasn’t effected at all by the one at my work last year but it’s still stressful just knowing that they’re making decisions like that. Hopefully we’ll find something soon. xxx
Bummer about the prospect of being made redundant. Good to know Dizzy is on the hunt, but don’t let her go the way of (or meet) my friend’s companion, Dave. http://exitmusic.nowson.com/2008/01/18/introducing-dave/
That was just to make you smile. Good luck job hunting.
That really made me smile! I love Dave but not sure I would be inviting him to visit after reading that. I won’t show Dizzy, definitely don’t want her getting any ideas. xxx
I know you can do it! And I will be there supporting you every step of the way! xxxx
Thank youuu! š xxxx
Several of the times I fond myself out of a job one way or another, or in temporary layoff, I have taken a radical change of direction. Was the new direction better or worse? Who’s to know? Still, it may be one reason I love that line in the Monty Python intro: “Now, for something completely different.” So, if you start thinking inside too small a box, Dizzy will need to kick the side off it.
What was your radical change in direction? I’ve had one of those already and it was definitely for the better. š I shall be remembering that line, thank you. And I’ll tell Dizzy she’s got another job while we’re job hunting. š xxx
There were several: Community Organizer to cab driver to social worker to factory worker to wooden toy maker to carpenter to warehouse worker to student to drug rehab counselor and on to therapist. It has been a zig zag life at times.
That is a variety of jobs. It’s better to change directions though than get bored with what you’re doing. All those jobs sound fascinating in their own ways! xxx
Don’t rush your self and don’t panic. Things will fall into place eventually. Very deep breath and onwards and upwards!
I’m feeling calmer this evening. I think the shock took over abit Tuesday and yesterday but today we’re just on the case of finding a new job! But also making sure it’s one we would like to do. š xxx
Good luck!
hi so sorry to read this bad news, hope you will find something else and sooner rather than waiting for a while. im sure dizzy will help you out with all the job hunting š xo
She definitely will. With Dizzy on the case I’m sure we’ll find something soon. š Hope you’re having a good week! xxx
Yep having a good week here, thanks XXX

so sorry to see this news. But as you say a new door will open and it may well be a better one. I have no good job search techniques or interview strategies either. My first career was in the performing arts and it was always just contract jobs and endless “auditions” so work was never stable. Then I completely changed course and worked as an independent in the financial markets and was my own boss. Anyway I shall keep you and Dizzy in my positive thoughts. btw you show some nice talent in the presentations of Dizzy on this blog. There may be an outlet for that in a new job. All the best…!
I’ve always done the juggling of acting with a part time permanent job. I would find it too stressful not having any stable work but admire people that are brave enough too. What made you change course? Thank you, me and Dizzy shall be having a little think. š xxx
I moved to Canada and started a family. My husband was a technician in the film industry and travelled a lot. I decided I would be the one to be in one place with our children. It was not a tough decision and I enjoyed the challenges of my 2nd career. Again , best wishes to you and to Dizzy.
sending you happy vibes happy thoghts and many prayers
Thank you! š xxx
