7 ways to be kind to yourself

It’s World Kindness Day today! This has got me and Dizzy thinking about the importance of showing kindness to yourself. This is important for everyone, but it becomes particularly important when living with the difficulties of coping with a chronic illness like Multiple Sclerosis. Dizzy has taken it upon herself to come up with 7 different ways that we can be kind to ourselves. 🙂

  1. Create time for yourself. Find time everyday to do something that you enjoy and that helps you relax.

2. Give yourself recognition. Be aware of your own achievements (however small these may be) and celebrate them. 🙂

3. Forgive yourself. Remember that we all make mistakes and to except these as part of life.

6. Remind yourself of your good qualities. We all think of the things that we would like to change about ourselves but remember all the good things too. 🙂

7. Show yourself compassion. Try to treat yourself how you would treat others. Be supportive to yourself without criticism and recognise that we all make mistakes and go through difficult times.

How are you being kind to yourself on World Kindess Day? We’d love to know if they are the ones we’re doing or something different. 🙂 xxx

I was not aware it was world kindness day so thank you for enlightening me. As always I love the photos of Dizzy illustrating the different ways to be kind to ourselves. And my favourite is #7 ‘show yourself compassion’. I am not so good at doing that and I am going to try to remember this. Thank you!

Dizzy has lots of wonderful qualities, and definitely deserves self-kindness! This is a really encouraging post, the best I’ve seen regarding being kind to yourself, so thank you so much for posting. I think I need to take some time out to set up a daily care plan of small, manageable things I can do to look after myself and my health, then look at some of the things you’ve suggested like reasons to like yourself, doing things I enjoy etc. Love this post!

Thank you so much Caz. I’m really happy you liked our post on it . 🙂 I think setting up a daily care plan is a really good idea. However small it may be! 🙂 It can make such a difference. There are still things on this list I need to learn to do aswell. 🙂 Hope you’re having a lovely week. 🙂 xxx
